Sport Australia Hall of Fame in partnership with Sportscover and CODE Sports, is awarding $10,000 to an everyday legend who keeps sport alive.
Backed by Sportscover and CODE Sports, SAHOF’s Unsung Heroes Award will recognise those whose dedication, resilience and passion keep grassroots sport alive — from long-serving volunteers, coaches, trainers to the tireless organisers behind the scenes.
SAHOF Chair John Bertrand, who made world headlines for winning the America’s Cup believes it's important to recognise and celebrate the everyday heroes who’ve never had a headline at all.
"I'm excited because I really think this is the start of something big and a wonderful journey for us,’’ Bertrand said.
“The power of sport helps to bring different cultures together. We want to search the country to unearth people or a group of people doing extraordinary things that bring communities together."
The winner will receive $10,000, thanks to Sportscover and CODE Sports, and will be honoured on stage with Hamish McLachlan at the Hall of Fame’s prestigious gala dinner in Melbourne on November 17.
Nominations are now open – submit 100–200 words with two references, showcasing qualities such as community impact, inclusivity, leadership and inspiration.
