We are honored to invite you to a special Parliamentary screening of Piquancy: Silent Heroes, produced by CALD Community Voices, supported by the Victorian Government and parliamentary screening partner Anasina Gray-Barberio MLC and team, in celebration of Cultural Diversity Week.

This moment is truly historic for our documentary, and we would be delighted to have you join us in marking this significant milestone. Hosting this screening at Parliament underscores the power of storytelling and the impact of diverse voices in shaping our communities.

Your presence would mean so much as we come together to celebrate cultural diversity, resilience, and the contributions of CALD communities.

About the Documentary

Supported by the Victorian Government, Piquancy: Silent Heroes captures the unfiltered journeys of individuals from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, highlighting their struggles, triumphs, and impact on Australian society.

Through heartfelt interviews and personal narratives, the film showcases how cultural expression strengthens Melbourne’s multicultural identity, fostering inclusion, empathy, and a sense of belonging.

We're thrilled to share that CALD Community Voices Australia has secured a grant through the Victorian Government’s 2023-24 Multicultural Media Grants program for our upcoming project, "CALD Champions: The Silent Heroes". This initiative aims to spotlight the remarkable stories of selfless community leaders, social workers, and volunteers from CALD communities. Through an engaging audio-visual series to be featured in our flagship digital magazine, "CALD Voices", we'll honor these unsung heroes and their invaluable contributions.

But we need your help! We're searching for 5 outstanding individuals from different communities to feature as CALD Champions. Do you know someone deserving of this recognition? Nominate them or inbox us with your suggestions! Together, let's celebrate the inspiring spirit of CALD Champions and amplify their voices! :)

I am truly overwhelmed by the resounding success of our recent single mum’s event. The vibrant energy and active engagement from the audience were nothing short of remarkable. Moreover, witnessing those heartfelt moments that stirred emotions, during the panelist discussions, the screening of our short movie, and the touching mother-daughter duet dance, deeply reinforced the significance of our cause.

I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every member of our dedicated team. Without your unwavering support, tireless dedication, and hard work, this event wouldn't have achieved the success it did. A heartfelt thank you is also due to our invaluable volunteers, Rita Panta MJ Merina whose selfless contributions ensured the seamless ex*****on of every aspect of the event. Special thanks to our unsung heroes Niva D Bajracharya and Shikha Basnet Khadka for their invaluable contributions, and who provided last-minute support, ensuring the venue was returned in the same condition. Though I may have overlooked mentioning others individually, please know that my gratitude extends to each and every one of you.

Sabi Post, Noni Chak your unwavering commitment serves as a beacon of inspiration, illustrating how bonds of sisterhood transcend mere blood ties.

A special acknowledgment to those who stood by me on the final night, Dixya Rimal Tahira Gunzan Niroula offering reassurance with the comforting words, "Don't worry, Niru dd , we've got your back." Your unwavering dedication, even after a party or work night of revelry on Friday, deeply touched my heart.

I wish to express my gratitude to our esteemed panelists, Stephanie Power, Monica Kalra and Suad Altayp Rejk, for bravely sharing your poignant experiences. Your courageous recounting of your journeys, the hurdles you've overcome, and the remarkable strides you've made in your respective careers left an indelible mark on all of us.

Lama, you did an outstanding job as the facilitator for the panel. I had every confidence in your abilities, and I'm delighted to see that my trust was well-placed.

While time constraints limited our interaction, the depth of your insights, personal experiences, and perspectives as single women and mothers was truly captivating. It left me yearning for a longer discourse, perhaps even a webinar series or an online platform to engage a wider audience. Rest assured, I'll ensure the recorded videos find their way onto YouTube.

Viv Nguyen your unwavering support in championing multiculturalism and empowerment is truly commendable. davidson, thank you for sharing insights into the Council of Single Mothers and their Children Inc. - CSMC's work and your personal journey. Mahalasa Gadiyar, your beautiful poem added an enchanting touch to the event, and it was a pleasure to finally meet you in person.

To my artistic team, John Kiran Joseph Kaka Prerana Malla Samjhana Dhakal Pangeni, Bharat Regmi, talented kids and crew, supporters behind the scene, all your dedication elevated the event to new heights. Your hard work is sincerely appreciated, and you all deserve a resounding round of applause.
