It might not look like love.
But in my world, it is.
Love doesn’t usually look like flowers, chocolates, fancy dinners or jewellery.
In my world, it looks like a milk taxi parked at the front of the calf shed in the early morning dark.
Two feeders propped up against it.
A pair of gloves on top.
He left them there for me — so I don’t have to walk over to the dairy.
A quiet gesture. Thoughtful. Practical. Loving.
It’s calving time.
Which means we don’t see much of each other right now.
He’s keeping the farm running.
Up at 3am to check pregnant cows.
Home for a quick hello at breakfast.
A fast dinner and then back out again.
Maybe back by 9pm… maybe not.
Sometimes he’s out again at midnight checking on a cow that’s not quite right.
I’m on calf duty.
Up at 5am to feed a shed full of noisy babies.
In just two weeks, we have nearly 100 in the shed.
I’m also what feels like solo parenting.
Hospital visits for a broken wrist.
School concerts. Soccer games.
Washing, dinners, homework, chores.
We’re passing ships. But even in the chaos, I see the love.
It’s in the little things.
A milk taxi in the dark.
A pair of gloves, waiting for me.
If you're in a busy season too, I hope you see the love in the little things. You're not alone.
