OK team. If you only do one thing to help the industry this year, please do this one thing.

Federal politicians are preparing budgets right now - we need them to increase the location offset for international productions from 16.5% to 30%

Please write to your local member, to Malcolm Turnbull, Mitch Fifield.

Attached please find the following:

1. Note from the Technicians Lobby Group explaining the need to raise the location offset to 30% and what you can do. We need URGENT ACTION as it is critical timing leading up to the Federal Budget submission. We currently have no international productions looking to Australia due to our non-competitive offset rate of 16.5%.

2. Sample letters for you to send to your Federal Member, the Prime Minister, the Treasurer, the Minister of Communications and The Arts.

3. Recent article from the Financial Review discussing the need to increase the offset and a story about how successful the UK currently is due their incentive.

4. Document from Ausfilm showing what an international production brings to the economy and how many employees and vendors are employed.

Sorry if you are receiving this for the 2nd or 3rd time, but it is imperative that you act now as we currently have no international films looking to come to Australia.

So Tom and I are back from Sydney and have completed another opera recording for Pinchgut opera. Now back into some equipment maintenance and upgrade activities and more work on editing Richard Narroway's Bach Suites release... more to come.

Greenside Productions is currently in Malaysia working with Imagica South East Asia to deliver an 8 week course in Sound Post Production, Compositing, Editing, Archiving and Film Restoration. Greenside is looking after the Sound Post side of the course.
