Karlis is 102.
Born in Riga, Latvia.
Survived war, occupation, exile, rebuilding and still speaks with gentleness.
Because of his hearing and eyesight, I didn’t ask questions the usual way.
They were handwritten.
He read them aloud.
He asked himself.
What followed wasn’t an interview.
It was a man sitting with his life, honestly, slowly, without performance.
“My life is surprise,” he says.
“102… too long.”
And still, his message is simple:
Be happy.
Don’t worry too much.
This is Karlis.
A century, speaking.
