Bundoora is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 km north from Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government areas are the Cities of Banyule, Darebin and Whittlesea. At the 2011 Census, Bundoora had a population of 25,709. Bundoora is the headquarters of La Trobe University, Bundoora Campus. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) also has a campus situated in Bundoo

ra. The word Bundoora is derived from "Kelbundoora", the name of a 19th-century Wurundjeri tribesman. The Bundoora area was originally inhabited by the Kurnaj-berring tribe of the Wurundjeri clan. Prior to European settlement, there were several large wetlands that were utilised by members of the Kurnaj-berring tribe. Europeans first arrived in the Bundoora area, known at the time as the Parish of Keelbundora, in 1835. The land for surveyed in 1837 by William Wedge-Drake to allow for the sale of land. The land has previously been owned by members of the Port Phillip Association such as John Batman, who grazed their sheep there without regard for the Wurundjeri clan. The land was subsequently auctioned in Melbourne in 1838 with Bundoora being sectioned off into two areas of approximately 400 hectares. The land was purchased by well-off individuals and land speculators who resold the land within a few months, this time in blocks of 100 to 300 acres (40 to 120 hectares). It was primarily used for sheep grazing and grain production. Bundoora Post Office opened on 1 October 1863. In 1899 John Matthew Vincent Smith, a well known horse breeder, purchased a 600-acre (242 hectare) property known as 'Bundoora Park'. The property was used to raise racing horses. A competition was held in the same year to design a homestead for the property. Sydney Herbert Wilson, who designed the Malvern Town Hall, claimed the prize of 50 pounds. The Bundoora Homestead remains a significant example of Queen Anne style Federation architecture. Bundoora is home to Mount Cooper. Mount Cooper is located within Bundoora Park, a large (180 ha) public park. Often claimed to be metropolitan Melbournes highest point. Bundoora is situated on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people, and the name "Bundoora" is derived from "Kelbundoora", the name of a 19th-century Wurundjeri man.

THEFT BUNDOORA!
Does anyone know this man?
White male, roughly 35 yo, sleeve tattoo on right arm.

14th March, Friday night at 11pm* -
Seen walking carrying a drill (assuming to steal number plates)

11:35pm*
Seen running with stolen bag
Entering Norris Bank Park off Nickson St, Bundoora.
Likely heading for the back streets off Mcleans Rd.
I immediately drove Mcleans Rd to try and cut him off and didn't see him up Mcleans Rd.
Due to this I'm assuming he lives in these backstreets.

Stole a womans bag containing -
Microsoft Surface 8 pro laptop (Japanese keyboard in red)
Soundcore earphones
Sunglasses
Various clothing items
Various skin care items

If anyone recognises this scum or saw anything around that time.
Please send a message,
Thanks in advance.

We’re THRILLED to share that Gracie has returned home safely after 11 long days!!! ❤️❤️

We want to give a big thanks to our amazing community for alerting the owners to all the sightings and offering your own time to get out there and help.

We also want to give a special thank you to Sherri Johnston Milly's Search, Trap and Reunite - Melbourne Branch and Maria Urintzof for rescuing her. They are truly remarkable!

🚨 A message from Gracie’s owners 🚨

Firstly we want to assure all of you that Gracie received a full bill of health by the vet today, she has a few scrapes but overall she is still in great health 🙏

We discovered Gracie’s location a little while ago but unfortunately she was in a state of mind called “survivor mode” where she did not recognise us or even remember her own name therefore there was no way for us to grab her. To combat this we sat with her and spoke to her through bushes leaving her food, water and some of our clothing everyday so she can begin to remember our scent again. When they are in this state of mind clapping, whistling, chasing and screaming their name would only make things worse and make them run further away.

Finally today 05/02/2025 she found the courage to emerge from the bushes and come back home with us. This was an overall exhausting and emotionally draining process but we had to do what was right for her in order to get her back safely.

Without Sherri, Milly’s and Maria’s guidance and resources we would have never known Gracies state of mind and would have continued chasing her around only drawing her further away from us. We cannot repay them enough they quite literally saved her life.

“Survivor mode” is very real and we encourage everyone to be aware of it in case any of your fur babies get out one day.

We want to again thank everyone in helping us get her back, because of you she can now sleep comfortably in her own bed (well our bed). We’re overjoyed to inform you of this happy ending and we can all let out a sigh of relief knowing she is home. ❤️

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for reporting every sighting of Gracie—we truly appreciate your support!

We now have professional rescuers involved to assist in bringing her home safely.

If you see Gracie, please DO NOT chase, clap, whistle, or actively search for her. This will only cause her to flee the area.

Instead, please report any sightings immediately to the number below. Thank you
