🕯️ He died trying to deliver medicine to two seriously ill women. 165 years later, they still haven’t found his grave.

Constable Matthew Connolly disappeared into floodwaters near Laidley in 1861. His body was recovered and taken to Ipswich for burial — but exactly where he was laid to rest remains a mystery.

Now, after more than two years of research, pieces of his final journey are slowly being found again.

🏏⚽ A major expansion of Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve is taking shape.

🚧 Work is well underway, with the new sporting facilities expected to be completed by December 2026.

Plans for a mixed-use precinct at Springfield City West are advancing after the 12.7ha town-centre site changed hands for $50 million, with Springfield Village planned as its first precinct.

The precinct is expected to open in mid-2029. Plans include a Coles supermarket and Liquorland alongside specialty and fresh-food retail, dining and allied health services.

🛴 Springfield Central State High School has reminded parents: the rules for students riding e-scooters and e-bikes are changing.

New laws include 16+ rider requirements, tougher fines and new police powers, while parents could also face fines if children under 16 ride illegally.

The school has urged parents to rethink the appropriate transport option/s for their children and says it does not recommend students bring e-scooters or e-bikes to school.
