In his first year of competition, Nic achieved an impressive 22 full course scores out of 23 runs, and won both the Wellington Maiden and Novice drafts on the same day. As a 4 year old, he went on to win the ASH National Stallion draft in open company.
From here Nic began his campaign in the show ring, with success at Sydney and Melbourne Royal Shows. At the 2003 ASH Nationals, he was awarded Champion sash’s for both the 5 and under hack and working, and High Point horse of the show. Recognized as an ambassador for the ASH breed, Nic was crowned ASH Star of the year for 2002 and his name can be found in the ASH hall of fame.
Throughout his career, Nic drafted successfully as an open horse, with a career highlight being his participation in campdrafting's pinnacle event; The Warwick Gold Cup. He made the finals on many occasions, and won the aggregate award over the Gold Cup and Canning Downs rounds in 2006.
Following his success at Warwick, Nic entered semi retirement and bred to only a select number of mares.
As a sire he produced well balanced and athletic types with plenty of size and speed to get to a cow. His progeny are renowned for inheriting his incredible mind and temperament, athleticism and cattle sense and are still successful in Campdraft, Challenge and Cow Horse events across the country. His daughters have proven to be excellent broodmares to cross heritage ASH breeding with today’s ASH and QH cow horse sires.
