Wynnum Central WynnumCentral. Not just a station… a destination. WynnumCentral is all about breathing some life into our favourite spot.

In its heyday Wynnum was the shopping hub of South East Queensland, with three cinemas and the pavements bustling with activity at the weekend. With the arrival of large shopping centres (think Garden City, Carindale, Capalaba) people who lived in the South East of Brisbane found other places to shop and visitors to Wynnum dwindled. Wynnum has got such a lot going for it and is a great place to visit – the foreshore is always packed with people at the weekend (but they often don't know that Wynnum Central is 300m up the hill!), and very few come into Wynnum Central after midday on Saturdays as they know most (but certainly not all) of the shops, cafes and restaurants are closed. This is changing as the central shopping area continues to attract interesting and diverse shops and artisans. Plus with the new cinema complex now open and new bars and cafes opening on what seems like a regular basis, and new developments going up, Wynnum is already rediscovering its mojo! Our aim is to keep you up-to-date with all the exciting and interesting things happening in Wynnum here, and liven things up with the odd competition and giveaway.

Congrats David!

🎉 A huge congratulations to David Westlake OAM on being recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List. 👏

This honour is a fitting recognition of David’s longstanding dedication to serving others and the positive impact he has made across our Bayside community. Through his tireless volunteer work, leadership and commitment to helping those around him, David has touched the lives of so many people, especially in his work at the Wynnum Manly Districts Men's Shed.

Behind every great community servant is often a wonderful support person, so a special acknowledgement must also go to Ann. Thank you for the encouragement, support and sacrifices you have made over the years that have enabled David to give so much back to our community.

This recognition is incredibly well deserved. Congratulations David on this special achievement. 💙👏🏼

Did you know that this month is
Queensland Small Business Month?

We did have our May After Work meeting scheduled for Tuesday 19th May, however…

Joan Pease MP, State Member for Lytton (and one of our members and supporters), is holding a Bayside Small Business Networking Drinks at The Waterloo Bay Hotel on Wednesday 27th May (also at the event will be the Shadow State Treasurer the Honourable Shannon Fentiman MP).

…and so we have decided to roll our May After Work meeting into this event.

Tom Oliver - founder of The Wynnum Fringe - is coming to town (Wynnum) tomorrow morning. If you run a business locally you should come along…

We've just found out that Tom Oliver, founder of The Wynnum Fringe, will be coming along to our Coffee Catchup tomorrow.

He'd like to talk with local business owners about the next outing of Wynnum Fringe and how businesses can be involved.

So if you'd like to know more come along.

The catchup is an opportunity to meet up with other locally based business owners/managers plus we have a range of new initiatives for local businesses which we will detail at the meeting.

It is an informal 'Coffee Catchup', so no need to book, no ticket price and come along any time after 8am.
