❗⚠️ TAKE SHELTER NOW ⚠️❗
Issued 3:50pm Friday 7 March.

We advise people on the Gold Coast to TAKE SHELTER NOW from Tropical Cyclone Alfred and stay indoors overnight.

Expect stronger winds, heavier rain, flooding and a potential storm surge. Rain will continue after the winds ease. This will cause flooding today and over the weekend.

‼️ Take shelter in the strongest part of the building you are in. This will be away from big windows. It could be a bathroom, walk-in wardrobe, or hallway. If you experience flooding, get up as high as you can where you are. This could be a kitchen bench or second story.

YOU SHOULD EXPECT:

- The wind is very dangerous and will be very loud.
- You may hear things breaking outside and hitting your house.
- Winds could stop suddenly if the eye of the tropical cyclone goes over.
- Very dangerous winds could start again quickly from a different direction.
- Very strong winds can knock down trees and powerlines, blow roofs off houses, and blow away anything not tied down outside. This is a risk to life.
- Heavy rain will continue after the winds ease and this will make the flooding worse.
- Power, phone, and internet will stop working. They could be out for a long time.
- There may be multiple warnings for your area due to the wind, heavy rain and flooding.

• Your safety is priority.
• It may be too late to consider the safety of your vessel. ACT NOW / Seek / Take Shelter Now
• If you are still on board your vessel, you should seek shelter ashore immediately as long as it is safe to do so.
