Screengrab7 The Screengrab International Media Arts Award was founded by media artist and academic Mitch Goodwin in 2009.

The Screengrab International Media Arts Award was an annual exhibition event (2009-2015) exploring issues relevant to network culture and critical media theory. The ongoing award and exhibition program is a co-production between Pinnacles Gallery, Townsville City Council and the Arts and Creative Media department at James Cook University. Screengrab has a strong international profile within the me

dia arts community and is designed annually around a theme that explores issues relevant to network culture and critical media theory. As an archive of critical inquiry Screengrab constitutes a significant body of important media art reaching back to 2009 when it was first established as an initiative to bring contemporary media art to North Queensland and provide students studying media art the opportunity to interface with critically aware and internationally recognized media art. Since its inception the award has explored a variety of themes, including: Intervention (2009), Network (2010), Nostalgia (2011), Control (2012), Ambiance (2013), Velocity (2014) and Resistance (2015).
