From the Apple FM newsletter, 2011

Lee-Roy has lived in Bacchus Marsh for all his life and he first got interested in radio in the early 90s when Bacchus Marsh Community Access Radio (now Apple fm) was doing test broadcasts. In addition to this station Lee-Roy also enjoyed listening to Richard Stubbs, Mobs & Fletch, Danger Lowbrow, Matt Tilley when he was known as Vernon, The Grill Team, and Merrick & Rosso. More recently he enjoyed Tony Martin’s radio show Get This before a certain radio station with three M’s in it’s name axed it. Lee-Roy’s program Radio KAOS airs on Friday afternoons 3-6pm and is a mixture of rock, alternative, hard rock, comedy, classics and newer music. “I’m into varying styles of music which carries into the show”, says Lee-Roy “and the title of the show reflects this. The title comes from Roger Waters’ from Pink Floyd’s second solo album. I’m not a big fan of his solo work, but I am a huge Pink Floyd fan, Dark Side Of The Moon is my favourite album of all time”

“Anyone who’s heard my show would know that in between songs I use sound effects of a radio dial changing between stations. This is to reflect the different genres of music of my show, I play stuff you’d hear on Triple M, Triple J, Gold, Nova, Classic Rock, 3RRR etc but you don’t have to change the station, I do it for you”

Two regular segments on Radio KAOS are the Weird Al Yankovic Song Of The Week and Live At Five. “I’m a big fan of Weird Al”, Lee-Roy says “he’s got a huge catalogue of song but a lot of people only know ‘Eat It’, ‘Like A Surgeon’, and ‘Fat’ so I like to introduce people to his other parodies, as well as his original songs and polka medleys. As for Live At Five; Bacchus Marsh can be a quiet town, so it’s great to get big name acts performing on the Apple FM rooftop every week, even if it is only for 15 minutes. That’s all the Apple FM budget can afford”

Skunkhour, the ‘90s indie-funk outfit, has paid tribute to their late drummer Michael Sutherland, a man who had the entire package of smarts, comic flair and creative talent.

Sutherland, a founding member of the Sydney band, passed away “suddenly” last Wednesday.

“He was a highly creative drummer, whose contributions to Skunkhour’s writing and recordings cannot go unrecognised. He had a wicked sense of humour and a very sharp intellect,” reads the social post. “He will be missed.”
