Jacinta di Mase Management

Jacinta di Mase Management Literary Agency committed to quality books that engage, entertain, and inspire. Representing writers and illustrators across a diverse range of genres

With more than 20 years experience in the book industry, Jacinta di Mase started her own agency in 2004. The agency is committed to the creation of quality books that engage, entertain, and inspire. Agency staff have a good track record for spotting works with commercial potential and working with creators to maximise that potential. We represent writers and illustrators across a diverse range of

genre including picture books, young adult fiction, and fiction and non-fiction titles for the adult trade market. Jacinta di Mase has a background in book selling and publishing, and worked for ten years in two of Australia’s premier literary agencies: Australian Literary Management (ALM), and Jenny Darling & Associates. She graduated with distinction from the RMIT Graduate Diploma of Editing & Publishing (1996). Jacinta is the President of the Australian Literary Agents’ Association (ALAA), an Australia Council for the Arts Visiting International Publishers Program selection committee member, and the ALAA representative for the Book Council of Australia (BCA)

Now, more than ever a writer needs an agent. Publishing is in a constant state of flux with new technologies presenting radical changes to old publishing models. Editors leave publishing houses; Publishing houses are sold, or taken over, or sometimes abandoned. A writer needs a buffer to protect them during times of change. An agent knows the publishing industry and can offer this protection. An agent is in the industry at the ground level; an agent is there for the writer.

TWO JdM gems on this list;

-- 'Jenna Lo Bianco’s novel is a contemporary romance set in Italy, and it’s stuffed with everything you love about the place: pasta, pasta, pasta, s*x, and a splash or two of good wine as well. Lo Bianco has written more than 60 books, but her most recent romance novels set in Italy have caused a spicy stir with Australian readers. In Love, Al Dente, we meet Alessio, a former chef of a major Australian restaurant, and Francesca, a free-spirited Italian cook. Salute and buon appetito.'

-- 'When we think of the Anzacs, we normally think of a man in uniform on a foreign battlefield. Too often missed are stories of the women who helped the Allies win the war. Code of Silence showcases women working from outback bunkers nestled beneath farmhouses, and from the garage of a Brisbane manor, or a girls’ school in Perth, relaying intelligence to Allies around the world. Only now, 80 years on from the end of the war, their incredible stories have begun to surface. Besides being an intriguing read, this book is an important work of history.'

"In an era when conversations about consent, respect and online safety have never been more urgent, Jane Gilmore’s 'It Takes a Village to Teach Your Children About Consent' arrives as a timely, accessible and essential resource for parents, carers and educators. Following the 2024 introduction of mandatory consent and respectful relationships education across Australia, the book offers vital guidance for adults who are often only a step ahead of the children and teenagers they’re trying to support. Most adults never received this kind of education themselves, and many are now struggling to understand what their kids are learning at school — and how to reinforce those lessons at home."
