In the spirit of giving people props while they are still busily recording, rather than another retrospective of people who have died, the focus of tonight's show is the ridiculously talented EMMA-JEAN THACKRAY who has just released her second album 'Weirdo' on Brownswood recordings after years of building on indie EPs. RIGHT NOW on edge radio 99.3, Sadly, the wonderful ANDY BEY has just passed. Every single time you hear his vocals on a track, they just radiate warmth and humanity. Starting out in a vocal trio with his sisters in the early 60s, he was featured on plenty of the great jazz albums of the late 60s/early 70s (Max Roach’s Members, Don’t Git Weary; Horace Silver’s United States of Mind trilogy; Mtume’s Alkebu-Lan; Stanley Clarke’s Children of Forever; Gary bartz’s NTU Troop albums) and his first album as a lead - 1974’s Experience and Judgement is a must have in every home. RIP

Sadly, another great has passed, this time, the great singer MAX ROMEO - from heart complications at age 80. He's been performing and recording steadily since he was 18. Kicked off the slackness reggae genre accidently, created political anthems and voiced some of the greatest Lee Scratch Perry singles.
