20 YEARS! I realised this week that I’ve been doing My Vinyl Weighs a Ton for 20 years now. Because I remember early on cutting Kanye’s “George Bush Doesn’t Care About Black People” from Hurricane Katrina into the show because it was *topical*. So: I’ll be bringing you a series covering the years of the show - this week it’ll be the best of the first year - back when the show was mainly about the samples that built hip-hop; heavy funk; and gingerly dipping a toe into Afro-funk. So, we’re going to hit you with the EBONY RHYTHM FUNK CAMPAIGN, ZOO, CAMEO, and, to celebrate DOOMSDAY, a bit of early DOOM. And no coverage of the first 50 would be complete without this:
