SYDNEY ROYAL AND THE SYDNEY FCI INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES CLOSE FEBRUARY 18- there will be No extensions !

UPDATE – Dog News Australia Award Nominations Made Even Easier

Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to submit nominations for the Dog News Australia Awards. We genuinely appreciate the effort and care that has gone into those submissions.

After receiving feedback, we understand that for some people, downloading, completing, and emailing a form wasn’t the most convenient option.

To make the process easier and more accessible for everyone, we’ve now simplified nominations even further.

Nominations can now be completed directly on our website — simply click the link, type in the details, and press submit. No downloads, no attachments, no emails required.

This change is purely about convenience and accessibility, while still ensuring nominations remain thoughtful and meaningful.

Important Update – Dog News Australia Awards

When the Dog News Australia awards were first introduced, their purpose was simple:
to recognise the people and events that genuinely make a difference within our sport — the volunteers, officials, and organisations whose efforts often go above and beyond.

Over time, it became clear that some categories were drifting away from that original intent and becoming more about popularity than genuine contribution.

After careful consideration, we have refined the awards structure to ensure they remain meaningful, fair, and reflective of real impact within the dog world.

What’s changing?

All Dog News Australia awards will now be decided through a story based nomination process and assessed by an independent panel who will be present on the evening to personally hand out the awards.

Nominations will require written examples outlining why a person or event deserves recognition such as a moment where a judge showed exceptional compassion or professionalism, a steward went above and beyond their role, a Royal delivered an outstanding exhibitor experience, or a club demonstrated excellence under challenging circumstances.

This approach aligns the awards with recognised community and service based award models and ensures they are based on contribution, service, and impact not campaigning or popularity.

Nominations Now Open for the Australian Dog World Hall of Fame!

Established in 2014 by Dog News Australia the Hall of Fame recognises retired dogs who've reached remarkable heights for their breed breaking Best in Show & Specialty records and or producing many exceptional offspring, overall dogs who have left an undeniable mark on their breed.

The inaugural inductees are unveiled at the Top Dog Final, marking a historic moment in 2014 when we were able to honour these dogs for the first time!

Our esteemed panel of Australian Judges will carefully evaluate each submission.

Submissions close Monday the 19th of January 2025 at 9am & the nominees will be notified if their application is successful by Friday the 23rd of January enabling time to plan their trip to the final.

*Please note someone MUST be present at the Dogdom Top Dog Invitational on February 21st, 2025 at Gold Creek Tourist Resort to accept the award.

A maximum of 4 Dogs will be inducted per year, this year we are searching for 3 inductees.
