The Sydney Roosters have locked in one of the NRL’s brightest young stars, with Robert Toia officially re-signing on a multi-million dollar deal through to 2029.

After bursting onto the scene in 2025, Toia’s meteoric rise has been rewarded with an upgraded contract worth over $500,000 per season, according to News Corp. The 21-year-old became a standout performer for the Roosters and earned a Queensland State of Origin debut just ten games into his first-grade career — a rapid ascent that has positioned him among the most exciting centres in the competition.

The extension not only locks Toia in long term but effectively resets his deal to a new four-year contract, ensuring his future at Bondi amid a period of transition. With Mark Nawaqanitawase set to depart for rugby union in 2027 and James Tedesco nearing retirement, Toia is expected to be a cornerstone of the Roosters’ next-generation backline.

The Roosters’ cap management remains strategic — despite major signings including Daly Cherry-Evans and Reece Robson, the exits of veterans and expiring deals for Angus Crichton, Daniel Tupou, and Siua Wong will continue to open flexibility.

For Toia, the move solidifies his rise from breakout rookie to franchise player. After earning Origin honours in his debut season and dominating defensively against elite opponents, his long-term deal is seen as a major win for both the player and the club.

Robert Toia – Blindside Fantasy Analysis

Toia was a dream cash cow in his debut year, delivering steady centre scores and big value gains. But with a price near $570K for 2026 and similar output expected, the value’s gone. Reliable but not elite, he sits below the top CTR tier. Solid player, wasted fantasy buy to start the season — fade for Round 1.

Sydney Roosters enforcer Victor Radley will be eligible for selection from Round 6 of the 2026 NRL season, after the club agreed to reduce his original 10-match suspension to five regular-season games.

Initially stood down without pay following his involvement in an internal investigation linked to former teammate Brandon Smith, Radley has been cleared to count his three Ashes Series games and two pre-season trials toward his suspension, easing the blow for both player and club.

The decision — reached by Chairman Nick Politis and coach Trent Robinson — means the Roosters will regain one of their key forwards early in the season. “Rads was going to be picked for England and was desperate to play,” Roosters GM of Football Mitchell Aubusson told The Daily Telegraph. “There was no pressure from us. He made the decision to put the club first and withdraw from selection… he missed out on getting paid for those Test matches.”

Speaking to 9News Sydney, Radley reflected on the emotional toll of the suspension: “There were a few days there where I felt like maybe that would be it. But I also felt like the club had my back. I’m grateful that I’m still here and I look forward to making amends.”

Radley’s return adds much-needed steel and aggression to the Roosters’ middle rotation — a major boost as the club looks to rebound from a turbulent 2025 campaign.

Victor Radley – Blindside Fantasy Analysis

Radley’s 2026 outlook improves on paper but remains loaded with risk. Concussion concerns and suspension history make him a volatile buy, even with MID/EDG DPP and a sub-$500K price tag. Coming off his worst fantasy season since 2019, he’s likely another trap. Monitor his return and durability first — there’s talent, but safer options everywhere else.

The North Queensland Cowboys could soon lose another experienced campaigner, with Karl Lawton reportedly being given permission to seek opportunities in the Super League despite having 12 months remaining on his contract.

According to League Express, the 29-year-old utility forward has already been in talks with multiple English clubs as Todd Payten looks to overhaul his roster following a disappointing 12th-place finish in 2025.

Lawton joined the Cowboys this year after stints with Manly (2021–24), the New Zealand Warriors (2018–20), and the Gold Coast Titans (2016–17), but struggled to cement a consistent role in Townsville, managing 11 appearances in his first season.

Capable of covering ho**er, lock, or second-row, Lawton’s versatility has long made him a valuable depth option, though injuries and increased competition in the Cowboys’ pack have limited his opportunities. With North Queensland preparing for a major rebuild, it’s understood the club is open to freeing up salary space for emerging forwards.

Since debuting in 2016, Lawton has played 115 NRL games and scored 14 tries, with his career marked by resilience and adaptability across multiple systems.

If he makes the switch, Lawton would join a growing wave of NRL players heading to England for a late-career chapter — a move that could reignite his game in a new environment.

Karl Lawton – Blindside Fantasy Analysis

Lawton turns 30 ahead of 2026 and looks unlikely to see consistent minutes at the Cowboys. Priced cheap around $230–$250K, he’s only relevant if he moves clubs or lands a 40-60 minute ho**er role. In that range, he averages 37.3 — solid value. Otherwise, strictly off the radar. Watchlist only; buy only if starting at ho**er.

Fresh off guiding Australia to a 3–0 Ashes series win over England, Cameron Munster has hinted that a Super League move could one day be on the cards. The 31-year-old Melbourne Storm playmaker, who was named Player of the Series and took home the inaugural Fulton–Reilly Medal, said the experience of touring the UK reignited his curiosity about life abroad.

“I’d love to come over here,” Munster told AAP following the final Test win in Leeds. “If I get the opportunity, I’d love to come over to England. You just never know.”

Munster made it clear his motivation wouldn’t be financial, saying any move would be about the experience and the challenge. “I’m not going to come over just to take the money,” he said. “If I wanted to take the money, I would’ve done it three or four years ago.”

The Queensland five-eighth reflected on his growth both as a footballer and as a person, crediting experience for his composure and consistency. “It’s crazy, the older you get, the smarter you get,” he said. “When you’re young, it’s all about the big play. Now I just understand the game a bit more.”

With State of Origin titles, an NRL premiership, and now Ashes glory under his belt, Munster said the recognition meant more than trophies — it was about legacy. “To have my name etched in history… to show my kids and grandkids that their dad played some footy and did OK, that’s really special.”

While still committed to the Storm and next year’s World Cup campaign, Munster admitted that if the timing suits his family, he’d be “more than happy” to finish his career in England.

Cameron Munster – Blindside Fantasy Analysis

Munster remains fantasy class but opens 2026 overpriced. Coming off a 50.2 average and likely priced near $660K, he offers little early cash value alongside Hughes. His output’s trended down from peak years (62 in 2022) and at 31, he’s past the heavy cash-gen stage. Still, he’s a proven match-winner and ideal run-home POD once prices correct. Avoid early, target late-season when value returns.

Melbourne Storm forward Eliesa Katoa is on the mend after a terrifying ordeal that saw him rushed to hospital following three head knocks in Tonga’s Pacific Championships match against New Zealand on November 2. The 25-year-old required urgent brain surgery to relieve pressure after collapsing on the sideline in the second half, sparking widespread outrage across the rugby league community.

As Katoa edges closer to being discharged from an Auckland hospital, his family have publicly defended Tonga’s medical and coaching staff, insisting no one is to blame for the tragic accident. “There’s no blame on the coaches or doctors — Eli wanted to play and represent his country,” Reverend Setelo Katoa, his uncle, told PMN Radio. “The pride of one’s country means doing whatever it takes to represent, even if it means putting your body on the line.”

The show of forgiveness has been met with enormous respect across the game. Tongan Prime Minister Aisake Value Eke sent flowers and a message of encouragement, while Storm chairman Matt Tripp and Young Tonumaipea personally visited Katoa in hospital.

The NRL’s investigation into Tonga’s handling of the incident has been completed but will not be released until Katoa is fully discharged out of respect for his recovery.

While there’s no timeline for his return to rugby league, the focus remains solely on his health and long-term recovery — with the entire NRL community behind him.

Eliesa Katoa – Blindside Fantasy Analysis

Katoa’s recovery is encouraging, but from a fantasy standpoint, he’s a hard avoid for 2026. After a serious brain bleed from multiple head knocks, a long rehab and fitness rebuild lie ahead. Even in a best-case scenario, his return this season is highly unlikely. If he does make it back, expect severe minute and contact management. Realistically, park him until 2027.
