Longboard SUP Veteran Snatches Victory in Final Seconds of Inaugural Elite Weekend Warrior Final at 2025 LSR Cosmic Experience
Oka Point, Bali – April 20, 2025
In a nail-biting finish at the 2025 Longboard SUP Revolution (LSR) Cosmic Experience, longboard SUP veteran, Andrew “Casso” Cassidy pulled off a last-minute upset to claim victory in the inaugural Elite Weekend Warrior division. The final, held in flawless, overhead conditions at Bali’s iconic Oka Point, saw Cassidy surge past front-runner and young-gun, Dylan Henry with a clutch ride in the dying seconds of the heat.
The final was stacked with talent and drama. Dylan Henry looked poised to take the win after locking in two solid scores early on, showcasing smooth footwork and impeccable wave selection. But Casso, patient and strategic, waited for the set of the heat and unleashed a critical series of maneuvers that earned him the highest single wave score of the final—just enough to edge out Dylan as the clock expired.
Scotty McKercher, a seasoned competitor, found himself hampered by the event’s priority system, which proved crucial in the tightly contested final. On more than one occasion, Scotty found himself out of position or unable to go on waves that could have turned the heat around. Despite some stylish rides, his rhythm was disrupted, leaving him unable to post the scores needed to challenge for the top spot.
Rounding out the final was a strong performance from current Australian champion, Chris Twomey, who showed flashes of brilliance but couldn’t quite match the high-scoring exchanges at the top.
The event was a testament to the LSR team’s commitment to elevating the longboard SUP scene with flawless organisation. The judges, led by the experienced crew from the Asian Surf Cooperative, kept scoring sharp and consistent throughout.
The Elite Weekend Warrior division might be new, but after this electric final, it’s clear it has a strong future on the LSR schedule.
