Margo needs a haircut! I like to trim feathers around their eyes to give them better vision. I’ll post an after video tomorrow.

Coaxing the chooks out into the yard from their “safety zone.” (Someone’s pet cat has been terrorising them for over a year and they are too scared to roam far from the house.) They really enjoyed being in the garden with me for most of the day❤️

Twinkle Toes is such a help!🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve had such a big break from socials. Lots of reasons, mostly due to surgeries, the last one being trigger finger release. Then I had to do a 4 week treatment on my face with Tolak cream for skin cancer. It’s been a full on year and a half!! I feel like getting back to the garden now though, and the chooks are loving me being outside again. They get brave and venture out into the yard while I’m with them, ( they have been spooked by someone’s cat for over a year!😡) So, hopefully you’ll start seeing more of me 😂

Heard lots of bird chatter today and assumed it was the little superb fairy wrens that live in my garden. Got a lovely surprise to see four Silvereyes eating something in the paperbark tree. They weren’t too concerned about me being there. It was nice to see them close up!

Twinkle Toes, leading the girls out of their safe space. Someone’s pet cat has been terrorising the chooks for so long now, they usually stay in close to deck for safety. Twinkle is the bravest girl and sometimes leads them up higher into the garden. I’m so angry and sad that one cat has them so fearful and changed their lives. They used to roam the whole yard, now they are limited to safe spots under and around the shrubs close to the house. I have tried to trap the cat, it has a collar, I was hoping to figure out who owns it, so I can ask them to keep it contained to its own house, which is the law here. The cat is older now and probably has stopped jumping on the chooks but they are not taking any chances. Seeing them in this part of the garden today was a little win though!!

Priscilla has vision impairment, she went down the step, missing the path turn off she usually takes. I’m so glad I have a camera in the chook house, I can check that she has made it to bed every night.

The red wattlebirds feed on the red hot pokers(kniphofia), and give the chooks a good telling off when they come too close!
