NPL2 | Kingston City FC’s brotherly strike duo Peter and Trent Skapetis have been on fire this season and a big part behind the club’s early season form.

City sit third on the NPL2 standings and are into the fifth round of the Australia Cup following a 4-3 upset win over South Melbourne, who both brothers have previously played for.

The pair have scored 13 goals across 10 games in all competitions (Trent has 7 goals in 8 games while Peter has netted six times across 10 matches) and currently sit in joint third on the NPL2 Golden Boot standings.

NPLW | Five rounds into the new season and a surprise leader has emerged. 2022 VPLW Champions Preston Lions Football Club have won three in a row and are undefeated in their four games so far this campaign.

Their 4-1 win over Boroondara at a rain-soaked David Barro Stadium last Saturday evening was their most impressive one yet as Dan Foden’s Lionesses leapfrogged their opponents into first place.

Japanese midfielder Miri Nishimura and reigning VPLW Golden Boot winner Rachel Stirton have picked up where they left from last season while the addition of veteran attack Mel Camilleri has only strengthened Preston’s attack.

NPLM | Heading into the 2023 NPL Victoria season, most pundits would have had Altona Magic as a relegation battler. Five points from their opening six games appeared to justify that tag.

Since then, the Magic have won three games in a row, scored ten goals, played some of the most attractive football in the league under John Markovski and now sit sixth on the competition ladder.

Not bad for one of the youngest rosters in the competition which features joint Golden Boot leader Jonas Markovski, one of the signings of the summer in Cian Cuba and the returning Papuan 🇵🇬 speedster Tommy Semmy.

Australia Cup | CUPSET 🚨 Kingston City FC have eliminated South Melbourne from the 2023 Australia Cup after coming from behind three times to win 4-3 in a classic at Lakeside Stadium.

State League Three Chisholm United FC stunned NPL2 side Brunswick City on penalties after a pulsating 4-4 draw while State League Two team Brandon Park Football Club upset NPL2 outfit Langwarrin 2-0 away from home on a night of high drama in the Cup.

Elsewhere on the night, Dandenong Thunder FC, North Sunshine Eagles FC and Nunawading City progressed through following narrow wins.

NPLW | Boroondara Eagles FC and Preston Lions Football Club have emerged as the surprise leaders following four weeks of action in Victoria’s premier Women’s competition.

Both teams were promoted out of VPLW last season and started the season with a draw before going onto securing three consecutive wins each.

The two will now face off this Saturday evening in a top of the table clash at David Barro Stadium - the site of Lions’ Grand Final win over the Eagles last season.

NPLM | Melbourne Knights celebrated their 70th birthday with a 3-2 home win over sister club North Geelong Warriors on Easter Monday.

Goals to Corey Sewell, Ciaran Bramwell and Curacao 🇨🇼 international Gevaro Nepomuceno were enough for the hosts to fend off a late comeback attempt by the visitors.

The win sees Ben Cahn’s men sit fifth on the table after eight games as they push for their first finals appearance since 2015.

Saturday 1 April: Subbed on in the 82nd minute. Scores in the 85th minute with a precision header in a 3-0 win over Melbourne Knights.

Tuesday 4 April: Scores nine goals (triple hat-trick) in the Avengers 17-0 Australia Cup win over Diamond Valley United.

Saturday 8 April: Subbed on in the 45th minute. Scores in the 46th and 50 minute in the 3-1 away win over Dandenong Thunder.

NPL 2 | Eastern Lions SC backed up their upset mid-week Australia Cup win over Green Gully with a dominant 4-0 win over Bulleen Lions on Saturday afternoon.

Elsewhere on the day, Western United FC moved up to first on the standings with a 4-0 away win of their own over Melbourne City thanks to a brace from Abel Walatee.

The scoreline was replicated at Frank Holohan Soccer Complex where Dandenong City SC triumphed 4-0 over Langwarrin via the help of a Damian Iaconis double.

Four goals were also scored at Dunstan Reserve as rivals Brunswick City and Northcote City shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

NPL2 | Preston Lions Football Club have moved to the top of the ladder following a 2-0 win over Brunswick Juventus in front of another bumper crowd at BT Connor Reserve on Friday night.

Second half goals to Delarno Pharoe and Jordan Figon proved pivotal for the hosts who leapfrogged Pascoe Vale and Kingston City in the standings as those two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at CB Smith Reserve.

Elsewhere in NPL2, Werribee City rallied from two goals down to salvage a point late on at home to Manningham United Blues in a 2-2 draw.

NPLM | Green Gully SC bounced back from their shock mid-week Australia Cup defeat to Eastern Lions with a dominant 6-2 win over Moreland City at Green Gully Reserve on Friday night.

Former Melbourne Victory midfielder Josh Hope (pictured) scored twice while Gianluca Iannucci, Pierce Waring, Alan Gerez and Tyler Vecchio also found the back of the net.

Fletcher Fulton and Jamie Latham scored for the visitors who collapsed on the hour mark as the home side scored four goals in the space of 20 minutes to move up to third on the NPL1 ladder.

Bentleigh Greens is saddened to hear the news of the passing of long time supporter Michael Christodoulou.
Michael was a club volunteer and active supporter since the club’s inception and played a big part in its success. Many of the Bentleigh Greens family will remember Michael selling peanuts and other snacks at all home games and cheering the club on enthusiastically. Michael you will be sorely missed. RIP.

NPL Victoria round 20 kicks off tonight as 7th placed Melbourne Knights FC host 2nd placed Oakleigh Cannons FC.

Last weekend a dramatic stoppage time Heidelberg equaliser saw the Knights take one away point instead of the 3. That goal saw them slip out of the top 6.

Oakleigh demolished Dandenong City 6-1 last Friday night but the Cannons didn’t fire on Tuesday night as they lost to South Melbourne on penalties to miss out on a spot in the FFA Cup round of 32.

Will a short turnaround hinder Oakleigh as they try to keep pace with Avondale at the top of the ladder? Will Melbourne knights make Knights stadium a Fortress again and push back in the top 6?

Port Melbourne "Sharks" Soccer Club dominate the midweek selection, following their 5-0 demolition of St Albans. Scottish import Chris Duggan leads the line with a hat trick, with Kris Kioussis providing immaculate service from left back, creative wingers Ammache & Courtney-Perkins making the bench, and coach Adam Piddick in the dugout.

Heidelberg United FC became the first side to claim 3 points away at Somers St this season, with the help of the relentless defensive efforts of Mallan Roberts and Josh Wilkins. Sean Ellis, meanwhile, demonstrated that class is permanent with a delightful curling strike.

Eastern Lions SC pulled off the upset of the round, defeating Hume 2-0 in a classic smash-and-grab. Keegan Coulter was outstanding between the posts, young centre back James Doyle dominated in the air, and Chris Droutsas tormented the visitors on the break.

Elsewhere, the enterprising Yusuf Ahmed opened the scoring with a towering header for Avondale FC, Gerrie Sylaidos squeezed in the winner for South Melbourne FC from an acute angle, and Melvin Beckett laid on an assist and diligently protected the Green Gully SC backline.

The midweek games snuck up on us but we've finally assembled our dream selection from last weekend!

Heidelberg United FC's Eoin Ashton leads the line with 2 goals, but our player of the week has to be South Melbourne FC's Marco Jankovic. 2 goals, an assist, and winning a spot kick - all from centre back!

Elsewhere, U21s goalkeeper Matthew Sesto was thrust into the spotlight and saved a point for St Albans Saints SC, Oakleigh Cannons FC's Oskar Dillon marked Alex Salmon out of the contest, and Brennan and Lazarides starred for Nick Hegarty's Hume City F.C. in what was a comprehensive team performance in their win over Bentleigh.

All the goals from a busy Friday night in NPL Victoria, proudly brought to you by Armadura.

In Sunshine, Melbourne Knights FC took advantage of a red card to Ben Bowler to run over the top of Hume City F.C. and secure a 3-0 win.

Heidelberg United FC staged their second come-from-behind performance in as many weeks out at Green Gully Reserve, this time securing a 2-1 win after initially conceding first against Green Gully SC.

It wasn't a good night for Dandenong City SC in Melbourne's Southeast, with the hosts downed 4-1 by a rampant Avondale FC.

In other Friday night action, Bentleigh Greens and St Albans Saints SC played out a scoreless draw in Kingston Heath, and South Melbourne FC and Port Melbourne "Sharks" Soccer Club did likewise at JL Murphy Reserve - despite the latter giving away and having first-choice goalkeeper Andrew Withers sent off in the second half.
