On July 30, 1966, The Beatles’ “Yesterday and Today” album hit #1 on the US charts — despite controversy over its original “butcher cover,” which featured the band in white coats surrounded by raw meat and dismembered baby dolls. 😳💿

Due to public backlash, it was quickly recalled and replaced, making the original version one of the most valuable collector’s items in music history today.
