Mark Thomas is a current Police Officer who has had a battle with PTSD over many years and in my opinion is the poster child for what can happen when a manager truly cares and is part of the healing process. Mark started and is the President of the Code9 Foundation, a charity that supports First Responders and even released a book that is aimed at children of First Responders who may have e issues with PTSD.
Mark joined me some time ago to record this episode of Beyond The Call.

This week, our First Responder family lost a brother. Peter Solomon ASM was killed in a motorbike accident earlier this week. He was a Paramedic for over 20 years, and was medically retired after being awarded the Ambulance Service Medal (ASM), the services highest honour. Peter struggled after being medically retired with PTSD, and had to battle for every dollar he could get. He was unfortunately ignored and abandoned by the service he gave so much for.
Peter's greatest joy was motorbike riding, and we take some solice in the fact that he passed doing something he truly loved.
People like Peter are the reason we exist. To support, to advocate, and to see real change for our First Responders.
Vale Peter Solomon ASM, your service is finished, may you enjoy your forever ride....
