A passionate and intimate group at the Wollombi Cultural Centre, who hosted a screening of "Lyrebird" last weekend. Thank you to the organisers and those in the village who turned out to watch our film.

The Lyrebird Festival returns this November 14-17 in the Blue Mountains.

Hosted by The Bowerbird Collective this event brings together some of Australia's finest musicians for a series of spellbinding concerts. This year the festival is also including a special screening of the award winning movie The Message of the Lyrebird on Sunday 17th of November @ 3:15PM.

Congratulations all involved, who worked on Yandel'ora!

Yandel’ora, translated as ‘‘The Land of Peace Between Peoples’’ is a D’harawal Dreaming story that illustrates why only the lyrebird can speak all languages and how the lyrebird became the interpreter and peacemaker.

Depicted as an animation for education audiences, the Balangara produced short film, by director and artist Bernadette Trench-Thiedeman has been selected as a Finalist at the 20th MY HERO International Film Festival i, which will take place on Friday, November 15th, and Saturday, November 16th at the Ann and Jerry Moss Theater at New Roads School in Santa Monica, California.

The animation is preceded with a live action introduction of the Yandel'ora and also Frances Bodkin [Aunty Fran] a descendant of the Bidigal clan of the D’harawal Peoples (with ancestral and spiritual links to Wiritjiribin - The First Lyrebird).

'Yandel'ora' will be released online during the time of the festival as a free not-for-profit educational resource, accompanied with materials documented by members of the D’harawal Traditional Descendants and Knowledge Holders Circle.

Lyrebird Lithgow screening - Thurs 12th September at 6:30PM
We are super thrilled Central Tablelands Local Land Services - Orange Agricultural Institute is hosting a FREE screening The Message of the Lyrebird as part of the Lithgow Biodiversity Month at the Lithgow Transformation Hub.
We hope by documenting how and why we have to make the deepest connection with the natural world, this film becomes more powerful and more emotional for all kinds of people.
Special guests to lead a discussion after the film screening so get along to enjoy this inspirational film event.

A big shout out to Barkers Creek Landcare and Wildlife Group , BirdLife Castlemaine District & Connecting Country for supporting our Lyrebird film.
A key theme in the film is humans and animals existing with one another. Without experts and volunteers in the community working together with their hands, their minds and their hearts; there's no holding and seeding of the natural world knowledge, and therefore there's no community power to conserve our native forests, wildlife and cultural evolution.

As part of our education distribution drive to help get this film in front of teachers and students across AUS/NZ you can watch The Message of the Lyrebird online virtually during the period of 4th - 7th May, 2024. Checkout the link. A big thank you to Birdlife Shoalhaven who is supporting this education film.
