The Rip Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale local news magazine It is delivered to homes and businesses at the start of each new month.

The Rip Rumour (The Rip) was first established in Point Lonsdale in November 1990, making it one of the oldest publications in the Geelong region and the oldest Bellarine-based publication. The name has always been accompanied with the slogan 'Your Community - Your Voice' - and we mean it!

Former Queensland avocado orchard owners Rob and Tasmin Charter purchased the historic 1887 Queen Anne style Queenscliff Hotel in Gellibrand Street in December 2022.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will investigate after a chopper with three people onboard crashed in back beach waters near Point Lonsdale this morning.
Emergency services raced to the scene. It’s believed the chopper was seen crashing into water off Fellows Road just after 10am.
"All three people managed to make it to shore and were located by passersby who contacted emergency services," a Police spokesperson said.
The trio was reportedly plucked from the wreckage - unable to walk - by a jogger who witnessed the crash.
A male and female have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Another male has been taken by road to hospital with serious injuries.
The exact circumstances are yet to be determined at this stage.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV/dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

UPDATE: Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a woman in Point Lonsdale this morning.
Emergency services were called at about 10.30am after she was reported missing.
A search by the Air Wing and Coast Guard locating her unresponsive in the water just after 12pm.
She was brought back to shore but could not be revived.
The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined.
Investigations remain ongoing but at this time the matter is not believed to be suspicious.
