Last year (2025) saw a flurry of activity from The Jimmy C who released the critically acclaimed Refreshing album garnering praise and adulation and lots of radio play in America and Europe, and also a soundtrack album for the Austin, TX indie film Curse Of The Baby Eater. This new and somewhat more mature sounding effort from the one-person production powerhouse and multi-instrumentalist spans multiple genres and the emotional gamut from joy to despair yet always remaining hopeful and uplifting throughout. The 15 songs on Pretending To Be A Person range in style from the up-beat country-tinged opener, energetic power-pop indie rock, California dream core, classic seventies rock, quirky sixties pop, slowcore(?) indie, soul, proto-metal riffing, acoustic ballideering and eerie indie nihilism … just to name a few. There’s something different in every song on a Jimmy C album and entertainment value always outweighs self-indulgence.

'Daughter of The King' the debut album for Naarm based singer-songwriter Grace Mitchell is out today! It is available on limited edition translucent orange 12" vinyl (100 only) , black 12" vinyl and digitally.

Grace began writing the first songs for the album 5 years ago in Hollywood. After returning to Australia three years ago, the multi-instrumentalist – who plays keyboards, drums and guitar – recorded and added the final touches to Daughter of the King last year at Melbourne’s Lily Street Studios.

Following the release of her first two singles - the indie-rock anthem "Destroy", which received high rotation airplay on Double J, and the grungey earworm "Head On" - Grace Mitchell now shares her AA-side single, "Baseball Hat" / "In The Other Room".

Mitchell takes listeners on a trippy sonic ride with 'Baseball Hat', a hazy, introspective track which Grace says "is about wishing for something more. It’s about reflecting on your life until a particular moment and realizing it isn’t enough of the dream you imagined."

In contrast, the pared-back "In The Other Room" explores the quiet loneliness of feeling like a stranger in your own home. "As time passes you become more distant from your lover until one day you wake up and notice you’ve been reduced to housemates."

While this is her first full-length album, Mitchell has been making music for over a decade. After her breakout moment covering the Hall & Oates song “Maneater” for the soundtrack of the major motion picture ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’, she released her first EP, Raceday, featuring the track "Jitter", which was praised by BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe as “possibly the song of the year so far.” A string of singles followed, along with performances at major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, and support slots with the likes of The Weeknd, MØ, MUNA, Tove Lo, St.Lucia, Joywave, and more...

The Johnnys - the legendary Sydney cow-punk rock'n'roll band formed out of the original Hoodoo Gurus line-up and famously fronted in the '80s by the late Spencer P Jones, are coming to Victoria for some special shows.

The band - which features two of its three founding members in Graham "Hoody" Hood on bass and vocals and drummer Billy Pommer Jr, along with guitarist Paul "Slim" Doherty, who joined the band in 1984 when third founding member Rod Radalj quit after the band made its first single, will be heading south for shows in Geelong, Balnarring and Melbourne, where they'll be playing Cheersquad's big night at the Corner alongside The Stems (a band they haven't shared a bill with since 1987!), Benny J Ward, Bagful of Beez and Heir to the Squandered Millions.
