After Modi came to power, the pattern of election victories in India has begun to resemble those seen in countries like Russia, North Korea, and Assad-ruled Syria. Even when half of Syria was fighting against Assad, he still won elections with 99% of the vote.
In a genuine democracy, people tend to drift away from the ruling government over time due to its shortcomings. This trend is seen in almost every democratic country — but in India, the opposite seems to be happening.
Only countries that pretend to have democracy show election results like the ones we’ve recently seen in Bihar.
If you’ve ever watched North Korean state television, you’ll see anchors and citizens crying and praising their “supreme leader.” A similar pattern appears in India today. Many journalists now sit in studios pushing propaganda rather than reporting independently. And most of the major states that control mining and industry are being won by the BJP with huge margin.
