Pelvic Floor Essentials’ Edition 4 (2022) by Sue Croft

Many women suffer with pelvic floor dysfunction such as stress urinary incontinence and prolapse following vaginal deliveries. Others have bladder issues such as an overactive bladder or recurrent urinary tract infections without having had children at all. Following the success of my book ‘Pelvic Floor Recovery: A Physiotherapy Guide for Gynaecological and Colorectal Repair Surgery’, I wrote Essentials to
assist women in learning how to correct any bladder and pelvic floor problems using conservative measures whether having had children or not. This book includes information such as:

• Correct activation of the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles.
• Pelvic floor muscle training programme.
• Good bladder and bowel habits and effective toilet positioning.
• Conservative prolapse management strategies.
• Pelvic floor friendly abdominal exercises.
• Relaxation, breath awareness and persistent pain education.
• Sport and sexual function advice. The book is easy to read and has simple, clear diagrams and illustrations to demonstrate the anatomy and exercises. It is small enough to sit on your bedside table for regular review and to help your pelvic floor stay in good shape forever.

Also to let you know that book sales have resumed to the United States after a short hiatus due to tarrif changes (Australia Post stopped postage to the US). The first book going to the US after resumption took only 2 weeks and was uncomplicated which was a relief! Happy purchaser also who was a 10 days post-op.

Post prostatectomy results getting dry is 99% with Joanne Milios protocol
1 in 6 NEVER leak immediately post op at catheter removal (14%).
1% need corrective surgery at 12 months post op, 75% pad free within 12 weeks, if a decent pre-op program is undertaken. See my protocols to assist.

This is a long podcast but lots of good ideas:
Wake up same time each day (very important)and bedtime
Circadian rhythm important
Melatonin- minding it (blue light/screen time reduces it)
Exposure to natural light
Decrease eating times (the window of time where you consume food)
Decrease or eliminate alcohol
Psychological happiness/positivity - taking control of mindset
Exercise regularly
