It's a little strange to be thinking about bushfires on the last day of June but the changing climate is forcing us to rethink our approach.
The Firewise Learning Hub has been a fantastic collaboration to put together- hopefully it forms the base for a powerful resource for communities wanting to be proactive about the threat of bushfire.

FIRE WISE LEARNING HUB LAUNCHED

The Fire Wise Learning Hub has been officially launched at a recent online webinar hosted on June 17th. The learning hub was produced in collaboration with Drift Media and Owen Gooding.

Owen has been involved in biodiversity conservation and bushfire management for over 23 years working with state and local government and the CFA. He was a member of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Task Force which undertook research into house loss on Black Saturday. Without his expertise this project would not have been able to come to fruition.

The Learning Hub can be accessed via the following link: https://firewisehub.online/

This online resource will continue to evolve with the addition of new and updated content.

If you wish to discuss the inclusion of new and updated content please email [email protected]

Today we had our last Digital Photography session at Inverloch Library. There were lots of great questions about camera technique and functionality. Hopefully our community participants got something out of my ramblings!!!!!

Whenever we get an opportunity to work with Myli - My Community Library Myli, we jump at it!

When a few locals enquired about running a digital photography workshop, I went straight to Jo and Jess at Inverloch library. They gave it the big thumbs up and got the ball rolling immediately. I never take for granted how lucky we are to have such a wonderful community resource in our town.

"Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life."

Last night I was asked to talk about drones and disruptive tech @ South Gippsland Bass Coast Local Learning & Employment Network's AGM and Networking event at Trulli in Meeniyan.

I was restricted to 15 minutes...I could have rambled on for a lot longer!!! but a great event all the same!

A cracking day to be in the air!
Working with Dan from West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority on the Thomson River, capturing the "before" shots at a few willow removal sites.
We were joined by a local wedge tailed eagle who came to check us out and let us know we were on their patch-nothing but awe and respect for these amazing birds!
