Fifteen-year-old Ukrainian gymnast, OLGA (Anastasiia Budiashkina), finds herself exiled in Switzerland while working to secure a place at the country's National Sports Center. When the Euromaidan revolt breaks out in Ukraine in 2013 following President Viktor Yanukovych's sudden decision to align the country's ties to Russia instead of the European Union, tensions rise as the young athlete's mother reports on the civilian uprising. Directed by Elie Grappe and inspired by true events that mirror current events, OLGA is a gripping drama ripped from the headlines.
‘4 STARS! Budiashkina gives an impressive performance as a rising star whose world is flipped upside down. Shot with a documentary-style naturalism and propulsive restlessness, this is a terrific, timely feature debut’ (The Guardian).
