The 2026 National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) book has been announced!

Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake A Minton, follows rookie captain Luna Roo, who leave nothing on the pitch. Faced with a spider goalkeeper, snakes in attack and bubbling nerves, Luna must trust her skills and her teammates to soar to victory.

NSS is one of the Australia’s most beloved annual reading events, bringing together millions of children, families, libraries, schools and early learning centres to share the same story, at the same time, right across Australia. NSS 2026 will take place on 27 May 2026 at 12:00pm AEST.

The ARA Historical Novel Prize, since its inception in 2020, has raised the profile of dozens of historical novelists, rewarded the winners, and fostered the genre on a grander scale. ⁠The incredibly high quality of entries in 2025 was reflected in the rare decision by the judging panel to select joint winners in the Adult category.

Since 1994, the Wilderness Society's annual awards have been celebrating the best new fiction, non-fiction and picture books written for children that promote a love of nature.

It's officially Love Your Bookshop Day! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has shared their love for bookshops and reading with us the past few weeks, and everyone heading to their local bookshops today. We know how much it means to booksellers, that you support the hard work they do. Together, customers and booksellers, create a magic that is so special and unique to the book industry.

The Get Reading Mini-Figure Scavenger Hunt is taking place until Sunday 12th October! A great way to spend Love Your Bookshop Day, if you're in Perth!

Until 12th October, pop into one of the nominated bookstores, find the mini-fig and pick up a great book or two while you’re there.
