Over the past couple of years, the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) and Australian Writers Guild Authorship Collecting Society (AWGACS) have been working with the Australian Screen Editors Guild to create a framework for co-writing credits for editors of eligible non-scripted documentary and factual works. Opening up the potential for Editors to earn secondary royalties as co-authors.

The result of that is a comprehensive set of ASE / AWG guidelines now available on our websites, outlining when those credits are triggered, how to address attaining those credits with producers and/or directors, and offering clauses that can be included in agreements to codify separate editing and writing credits.

We are holding a town hall event to explain how this process works and to answer any questions you may have.

The discussion is hosted by Danielle Boesenberg. Joining her is AWG and AWGACS group CEO Claire Pullen and esteemed Documentary Editor Karen Johnson. Karen was nominated for both writing and editing awards at last year’s AWGIE and Ellie Awards.

Time: 7pm AEST Thursday 23rd October
Location: Zoom
Cost: FREE
Bookings essential.
Tickets can be purchased through this link.
