BNE’s Nut Thief release self produced debut EP ‘Distances Measure In Time’ on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Written, recorded, and produced by the band out of their home studio, the 3 track EP leans on the struggle of being alive. It’s a collection of pop punk, mid-western emo tunes fit for an anime soundtrack: melodic vocals, hard hitting bass, and dynamic drums. Nut Thief’s CJ Harding says “the in-your-face drums and guitar grit are matched by soft harmonic vocals.”

Following the departure of their fourth member, the band spent the past 5 months rebuilding their set as a three piece. See Nut Thief live at BIGSOUND at Rics Bar on Thursday, September 7th, 2023.

Our mate Georgia Wright over at wrote a piece called ‘A Manhandled Music Industry’ about the struggle of female workers in the music industry. It’s beautifully written, and worth every second of your time it takes to read. 🫶

Planisphere’s ethos has always been to push the bounds of their creativity; drawing inspiration from all sources and bending genres to create their sound.

Upcoming single ‘White Rabbit’ is set to release on August 18, and sees the band poised perfectly in a well-balanced fusion of electronic and modern alt-rock.

The result is a groove-laden riff fest reminiscent of something off the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack. Brooding instrumentals make way for deep house-esque verses, moving into the most memorable hook of 2023 before dropping into a fuzzed out dance-punk rave.

‘White Rabbit’ marks a proud milestone for the band, taking a entirely DIY approach to the creation of this latest cut, only enlisting Melbourne’s Roy Cargill for mastering. Planisphere handled all production, recording, and mixing.

Head over to Planisphere’s page to pre-save ‘White Rabbit’ now.

Dana Gehrman—Brisbane’s ultimate guitar-slinger and singer—announces the release of single ‘Easy To Slip’, the opening track of upcoming album ‘Down In Hollywood’.

Gehrman delivers an unparalleled vintage sound, evoking rich a nostalgia influenced by the halcyon days of 70’s ‘west coast’ music. She rewinds to a time of genre-bending experimentalism with her songwriting, blending soul, funk, roots-rock and blues, all with unfaltering vocals.

“It’s fun, free and a real good driving song,” she said when asked why she chose ‘Easy To Slip’ for release. “There was no questioning its place on this record.”

Dana Gehrman is a star unlike any other shining on the Australian music scene. She’s raw, real, and undeniably genuine in music and in life. Her performance on stage is worth twice the price you pay to see it.

Follow Dana Gehrman, pre-save ‘Easy To Slip,’ and keep an eye out for her next show! 🪐

Moreton have released their highly anticipated new EP The Dog Years, an open-hearted 6 track release that threads the emotional heft of everyday life into sonorous, minimalist art-rock.

‘The Dog Years’ confidently shifts between cinematic production and Moreton’s signature minimalism, led by Georgia James Potter’s exceptional voice and forthright lyrics that cement her as one of Australia’s most distinct voices.

Bringing together their recent singles ‘Downfall,’ ‘Down & Out’ and ‘Glass,’ Moreton has received praise from Rolling Stone, Clash Magazine, BBC Music, KCRW, NPR, triple j, and more, and has been compared to the stately likes of Sharon Van Etten, The National, and PJ Harvey. The focus track, ‘Smoke’, restively stretches between serene and intense scenes, marked by atmospheric guitars, violins and abstract lyrics.

Head over to Moreton to listen now!
