With more affordable diesel prices, down from $3.40 to $2.20 per litre, after five months I finally got back on the road.

It takes many hours of scouring the map to find a new bush camp. Eventually I decided upon the Paling Yards in Bago State Forest.

After bikepacking the Northern two segments of the Warby-Ovens National Park at Easter, last weekend I thought I'd do the Southern two. It didn't go as well as the Northern section, but still, being out in nature, who cares🙌🩵🎥

It's always a compromise between what you want to do and what you can afford to do. I have the bikepacking gear, trains are free in Victoria at the moment, so why not get out for a bikepacking trip while the fuel costs are through the roof. The final part of my trip out west was a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable experience. Travelling through this region was like taking a step back in time: long, featureless plains hid interesting geological features, and the hot, seemingly endless road brought to mind the hardships endured by the early settlers. Free train rides in Victoria this month 🤑. Just grabbed my bike and hit the Vline to Warby Ranges for a quick bikepacking escape.🏕️🫶🚵‍♀️

What a mixed bag it was returning across the Nullabor. Many Roadhouse stops. Feeling tired but not as tired as the bikepackers I bumped into en route.🚴 Encountering a sad event that shook me up, a new pair of flipflops, and a new to me beach on the Eyre Peninsula.
