Images of bats around this time of year often depict them as scary dark creatures. To counter that, here I present a juvenile ghost bat (~3 months old), and an adult for comparison. If you don't audibly squeal from the cuteness of that face, I'm not sure we can be friends.

These individuals were captured last week as part of the Macroderma Initiative, a project that aims to gather more info on the population size, distribution, movement, and health of the threatened ghost bat.

*Bats were captured under the required permits, by trained handlers who are vaccinated against ABLV.*
