This week on Generation Gap, Fridays from 9am to Midday on Tribe FM 91.1, Willunga.

What a busy week Emcee Blaze and Trev had. After our show last Friday, we went to the Southern Vales Practical shooting League's firing range to help promote this very worthy group. A most enjoyable and informative afternoon hosted by three experienced shooters. (See previous post for the details).
On Sunday Trev went to the Onka Stompa outside broadcast to celebrate the life of Mark Mills who left a massive legacy with this event and raised over 400,000 dollars for Childhood Cancer and Breakthrough Mental Health Foundation. Trev then headed for the Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant to catch up with Blaze who was in the parade with some of the Port Noarlunga Hotel staff. Not sure the reindeer suit was her best look, but she really enjoyed herself. On Wednesday, as promised, Trev headed to Oxenberry Farm to catch up with the McLaren Districts Lions Club members (and others) for their twice monthly loneliness walk. This is a great initiative, and it looks as if the group will grow.

At the end of the Generation Gap show on November 21st Blaze and Trev alluded to go doing something special that afternoon but did not give any details.
Here is a special post that continues our promotion of sports that do not seem to get a lot of attention. Over the years (not in any order) we have tried to help some sports get more sports the recognition they deserve. Pickle ball, Broomball, Axe throwing, archery, laser air rifle and small-bore rifle, lawn bowls and now we can add pistol, shotgun and high-powered rifle shooting.
Blaze and Trev ventured to the firing range at the Southern Vales Practical Shooting League situated at the McLaren Vale Quarry. There we met Barry, Darren and Wayne who proceeded to give Blaze and Trev all the information they needed about gun safety and handling. Then it was on to the pointy end of using the guns. Trev kicked off proceedings with a pretty good effort using a .22 pistol. Blaze then used the same gun and for a first timer done pretty well. We then moved onto 9mm pistol and .357 pistol and revolver. The .357 magnum rounds kicked like a mule but by now MC Blaze had got into stride and was kicking the old bloke's butt. It seemed the bigger the gun the better she got. We then had an invitation to move onto a 12-gauge shot gun. Trev declined due to an arthritic shoulder and having used shotguns many years ago knew about the recoil. Blaze of course, with youthful exuberance, got straight into a few rounds and is now sporting a bruised shoulder. Not to be deterred she then used a reasonably high-powered point 223 pump action rifle like she had one instead of a rattle as a kid.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative couple of hours under the mentorship of experienced shooters. Trev and Blaze would recommend giving competitive shooting as a great hobby.
Thanks again to Barry, Darren and Wayne for their time and involvement.
