Would you rather nail a boog pit or a backside full rote? Grayson Hinrichs managed both in quick succession. We asked him how he pulled it!

“Sunday morning started off smaller than expected. I took my stick out for a paddle. The swell quickly grew and I was not having much success making the take off on the good waves. There is so much water pulling off the bank at all times. Trying to stay in the spot on a surfboard is really tricky.

I was sick of getting thrown over the falls on my surfboard so came in. Reset, grabbed my bodyboard and tried again. The bodyboard is certainly the best tool for the job at this wave. I’ve wasted too many waves trying to make the takeoff, so I just wanted to make the takeoff and sit in the cone for once. Got lucky and got a fun tube on the lid and heard my mate Pete was boosting airs just down the beach so I ran to the car grabbed my stick and went out to try keep up with him. Got lucky and stuck a backside full roter on like my 2nd wave and pretty much called it a session after that.

Boog tubes or punts I love it all equally.”
