Today Jesse and Bray have headed off to a ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ช๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฒ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ at Kaban.
Theyโll be learning more about weeds in the pasture, paddocks and veggie garden, including how to manage them and the surprising ways some of them can actually help.
We often hear that weeds are simply plants growing in the wrong place, but today is about looking a little closer. What are they doing there? What are they telling us about the soil? And could they sometimes be growing in exactly the right place for what the land needs?
Thereโs something pretty special about Bray walking the paddocks beside his dad, listening to people who understand this country and learning to notice whatโs happening beneath his feet. Not just memorising plant names, but asking questions and beginning to understand how the whole system fits together.
Wakana Ridge is still one enormous work in progress. So are we. But every paddock walk, muddy boot and question asked gets us a little closer to knowing how to care for this place properly๐ฑ
