Jesse, later while collecting eggs:
“Why do these ones have love hearts written on them?”

Me:
“...no reason.”

Jesse:
“Katrina.”

Me:
“They’re already sitting there anyway.”

Nothing gets past that man apparently 😂 My highly sophisticated secret chicken breeding program lasted about 12 minutes.

Honestly though, silkies take motherhood VERY seriously. Absolute psychopaths for motherhood.

Gertrude’s first babies ❤️

Aus Mini x Nubian girls with two very different personalities from the same womb. Eleanor’s got the little white patch and wattles, while Maeve has the fully black face and legs.

Maeve inherited Gertie’s clothes-nibbling habit, so if she’s near you there’s a fair chance your dress is being slowly eaten while you’re distracted. and LOVES a pat. Eleanor? She’ll come over acting like she wants a pat, then pull the old head dodge at the last second 😂 Again, just like her mama.

And these girls have the best rumens going around. Most afternoons they look about six months pregnant from browse alone. Definitely got THAT from their papa.

Now they’re just over a year old and somehow already all grown up.

She’s a Nigerian Dwarf x Boer, short and stout with a ridiculous amount of strength behind her. Came to us from Atherton and turns out she’s actually Ralph’s daughter, which honestly explains a lot hah!

Rosie’s smart. Proper switched on. Always got her wits about her and still not fully convinced humans can be trusted.

She does love pats though… but only when she’s safely up on the top bunk where she knows we can’t catch her for hoof trims 😂

Gentle with her people. Bossy with the herd. Jesse’s favourite goat and she absolutely knows it.

Who will also be coming home Sunday.
He’ll be our Nubian buck next year for our Nubian ladies (Harriet + Georgia).

Ain’t he the cutest!? 🥹

And look at that little milk moe…

Hopefully Hugo and Remi will be good mates cos I reckon he will be twice the size of him. 😅

So… this is Re*****on.
Probably Remi for short.

Tiny Nigerian Dwarf buck coming home Sunday. Next year’s designated baby daddy for the Nigerian Dwarf girls at Wakana Ridge.

At this stage he’s about 80% ears, 15% cheek, and 5% actual goat. 🐐

Can’t wait to meet him!
