Watch till the end, because I saved the best for the last.
I had the chance to experience Boishu—Tripura’s Indigenous New Year—for the very first time in Khagrachari. It’s a time when the community comes together not just to celebrate the past, but to welcome the future with joy and unity.
What stood out the most was witnessing the sacred Garia Mwsamung (Garia Dance), a ritual that carries deep cultural and spiritual significance. It was more than a performance—it was a living tradition passed down through generations.
Khagrachari has a way of embracing everyone, no matter where you’re from. During Boishu, that warmth shines even brighter, as people open their hearts and homes to share their heritage.
P.S. This video primarily explores the culture of the Tripura community of Bangladesh and their practices. The research was done on an article published by Mathura Bikash's uncle and from his understanding regarding this tradition. In addition, some of the content was also added from what was available on the Wiki, and from a direct contact from the Tripura state who helped me with this.
Also, more than happy to give credit to the video owners in this content; please message me.
Last but not least, this video is sponsored by Taptap Send Bangladesh. I want to give them a huge shout-out for sponsoring my effort.
Any kind of criticism is welcome if it enriches this short documentary.
Thank you.
