Family: Nymphalidae

Color & Appearance:

The upper side of the wings is usually orange-brown.

The wing edges have black borders with small white or black spots.

The body is dark, and the abdomen may appear slightly reddish.

Behavior:

It flies slowly and is often seen resting on plants.

The caterpillar feeds on toxic plants like Passiflora (passionflower), which makes the butterfly slightly toxic as well—helping it deter predators.

Habitat:

Commonly found in open fields, grasslands, gardens, along railway tracks, and roadsides.

It can adapt well to urban environments too.

Reproduction:
