💔 In 1911, a starving man walked out of the California wilderness… completely alone.
His name was Ishi — the last known survivor of the Yahi people.
An entire tribe had been wiped from history after years of violence during the California Gold Rush. Their language, traditions, and way of life were almost lost forever.
Before he died, Ishi shared the knowledge of his ancestors—how they hunted, made tools, and survived—saving a piece of his people’s history for future generations.
But even in death, he was denied the respect he asked for. His brain was removed and kept in a museum for decades before finally being returned in 2000.
A story of survival, loss, and a culture that refused to disappear. 🕊️
