United Council of Rohingya Announce Leadership Transition

The United Council of Rohingya (UCR) has announced a significant milestone in its collective leadership journey, marking a formal transition in its rotational presidency system.
Under UCR’s governance structure, five leaders serve in rotation, each holding office for a six-month term. In line with this system, Mr. Sayed Ullah has successfully completed his tenure as Acting President, serving from 23 October 2025 to 23 April 2026.
A formal Responsibility Handover Ceremony was held on 23 April 2026 at the UCR office. The event was conducted transparently and witnessed by designated representatives.
During the ceremony, all presidential responsibilities, authority, and duties were officially transferred in accordance with UCR’s organizational policies.
Following the transition, Mr. Jahangir Alam has assumed the role of Acting President for the second leadership term, effective 23 April 2026. As the second member of the UCR President Panel, he takes on the position with the full confidence and support of the organization’s executive members.
UCR reaffirmed its commitment to serving the Rohingya community with unity, integrity, and strong collective leadership. The council expressed its sincere appreciation to Mr. Sayed Ullah for his dedicated service and welcomed Mr. Jahangir Alam as he begins his term.
