For those who do not know, this beautiful boy’s name was Muhammad Abu Jabal, only 16 years old.
Today, he embraced martyrdom.
Do you know what his crime was? He had gone out in search of a little food for his family — to place even a handful of rice into the mouths of his hungry mother and younger siblings.
On his way back, bombs rained down from the sky. Israeli warplanes were carrying out relentless strikes over the skies of Gaza.
Muhammad was still holding the food package in his hands — the very package he was supposed to hand over to his mother upon returning home.
But Muhammad never came back.
Only the news of his death returned.
How will Muhammad’s mother sleep tonight? The son she carried in her arms, the child who first called her “Mother,” the boy who went out today searching for bread for his family — is no more.
What will Muhammad’s younger siblings eat tonight? Who will go out again for them the day after tomorrow? Who will become the roof over their family now?
For a handful of bread, a 16-year-old boy lost his life.
This is a world where the children of Gaza give their lives in search of food.
O Allah, grant the martyr Muhammad Abu Jabal the highest place in Jannatul Ferdaws. Grant patience to his mother, provide sustenance for his younger siblings, and shower Your mercy upon every hungry family in Gaza. And awaken the hearts of the Ummah, so that we may not only weep, but also take action. Ameen.
