Pohela Boishakh (Bengla : পহেলা বৈশাখ) is the Bengali New Year, celebrated on April 14th or 15th each year, depending on the region. It marks the first day of the Bengali calendar and is one of the most important cultural festivals in Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal, as well as among Bengali communities worldwide.
