My Go-to-Restaurants In Dhaka Series pt.1 featuring Emerald Bakery and Cafe

There are restaurants you like, and then there’s that one place that feels like a second home; for me, that’s Emerald Café & Bakery in Banani.💚
Whether I’m having the best day or feeling low, or just craving good food and good vibes, I always find myself back here. It’s warm, welcoming, and the consistency of their food and service is always top-notch.

From the cajun fries and seafood chowder to their pan-seared chicken, chicken fricassee, ribs, eggs Benedict and shakshuka — every bite hits the same every single time. I also keep going back for their drinks like Sparkling Espresso, Spiced Apple and The Remedy — comforting in every sip.

Honestly? I can never get enough of this place. ✨

Tired of all the beef and mutton indulgence? Or are you a seafood lover in general? Well here’s a seafood solution for you that you can enjoy with friends/family/colleagues:

I tried out the Barrel of the Bay at Woodhouse Grill - a classic barrel filled with more than 4 kgs of seafood goodness - pomfrets, king prawns, tiger prawns, crabs, swordfish, smoked pepper fish, calamari, octopus, fish sausages, mushrooms, baby potatoes, corns and so much more! Plus it comes with 2 fixed sides of bread and butter and any 3 different sides to go with your meal.
It’s a massive serving and easily shareable between more than 4 people.
Also the seafood is infused with the sauce and spices and cooked for over an hour so don’t forget to order ahead (at least 1.5-2 hour before you want your food served)

This HAS to be my NEW favourite Italian restaurant in town - it has a concise food menu with choices of pizza, pasta from mains and drinks and desserts on top of it. I also loved the rustic interior, cozy dimmed lighting and staff service was top-notch to say the least 👌🏻

Now coming to the food that I tried:

1. Frutti Di Mare

A saucy seafood pasta - rich with tender shrimps, mussels and calamari bathed in a garlicky tomato sauce. Each twirl of pasta was a perfect balance of ocean freshness and savory flavor.

2. Chili Lime Shrimp Pizza

⭐️ 4.5/5
This one packs a zesty punch with juicy shrimp tossed in tangy lime and fiery chili sauce. It’s layered over a crispy crust with melty cheese and fresh cilantro. Hands down one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had in Dhaka.

3. Tres Leches

⭐️ 3.5/5
A soft, spongey cake soaked in dense milk, every bite was delish! It’s topped with airy whipped cream and a small slice of mango.

4. Mango Iced Tea

⭐️ 4/5
This mango iced tea was such a refreshing blend of subtle hints of mango flavour and bold black tea served ice-cold. I loved that it wasn’t too sweet but I wish it was a bit more in quantity.
