Russia has warned the United States in strong terms that providing direct military support to belligerent Israel could lead to “extreme instability” in the Middle East.

The warning was issued by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. His statement was published by the Russian state news agency Interfax on Wednesday.

Ryabkov said, “We are warning the United States that providing military support to Israel or even considering it would seriously destabilize the situation.”

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister also said that Moscow is currently maintaining contact with both Israel and Iran in the ongoing crisis.

‘The situation is critical’

Meanwhile, Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service (SVR), said in a separate statement, “The situation between Iran and Israel is now extremely critical. It could escalate into a full-scale war at the slightest provocation.”

July Declaration Act passed for families of martyrs and injured in July Uprising
জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থানে শহীদদের পরিবার ও আহতদের জন্য জুলাই ঘোষণাপত্র আইন পাস করা হয়েছে

The government has issued the ‘July Uprising Martyr Families and July Fighters Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance, 2025’. The ordinance divides the injured into three categories. The martyrs and injured people in the mass uprising have been recognized as ‘July Martyrs’ and ‘July Fighters’ respectively.

A maximum of two years’ imprisonment has been provided for taking the benefits provided to the martyrs and injured people in the July Uprising through fraud. At the same time, the ordinance has provided for a fine of two lakh taka or double the amount of the financial assistance received.

The ordinance states, "If any person, despite not being a family member of a martyr or any category of injured July fighter in the July Uprising, intentionally or knowingly provides any false or distorted information or conceals information or submits misleading documents and claims or accepts any medical benefits or financial assistance or rehabilitation benefits by claiming to be a family member of a martyr or injured July fighter in the July Uprising, then he will be considered to have committed an offense. In this case, he will be liable to a maximum imprisonment of two years and a fine of two lakh taka or a fine of twice the amount of the benefit or financial assistance received."

Advisor Asif accuses BNP leader Ishraq of illegally declaring him mayor

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain's ongoing activities have been termed as a 'criminal offense' by local government advisor Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan. In an interview with a private television, he said, 'The kind of activities that Ishraq Hossain is currently engaging in are clearly a violation of the law. He is being led astray, he is being used for political gain.'

Mentioning the current good relationship between the government and BNP, Asif Mahmud said, 'Ishraq will have to take a more responsible role so that this positive relationship is not damaged.' He added that although a file was initially prepared regarding Ishraq's swearing-in as mayor, it had to be closed on the advice of the Law Ministry as the matter was still pending.

The advisor urged Ishraq to leave the path of conflict for the sake of the people and resolve the problem through dialogue. He said, 'All problems can be resolved through compromise. Political maturity and sense of responsibility are what is most needed now.'

Ishraque holds meeting at City Hall, with 'Honorable Mayor' as its name

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain was felicitated as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation without taking the oath. After the Eid holidays, officials and employees of the corporation's waste management department felicitated him at a view-sharing meeting at the Dhaka South City Corporation auditorium on Monday.

When he arrived at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium around 11 am on Monday, officials and employees of the corporation's waste management department felicitated Ishraq with flowers and a crest. BNP leader Ishraq attended the event as the chief guest. This was his first meeting at Nagar Bhaban. The banner of the meeting read 'Honorable Mayor, Dhaka South City Corporation' after his name. Mobile banking service Nagad alleges allegations against ministry officer Atiq Morshed and his wife

Atiq Morshed, the personal officer of Fayez Tayeb Ahmed, the special assistant to the chief advisor, has been accused of working in the office of mobile banking Nagad. These allegations have spread on social media. It is being said that ‘Atiq Morshed has embezzled Tk 150 crore from Nagad’ and ‘He has given jobs to his wife and relatives in Nagad’.

However, Atiq Morshed has now opened up about these allegations. On Friday (May 30) evening, Atiq Morshed revealed the truth in a long post on his Facebook and claimed that he has only been to the Nagad office twice so far. That too for official work.

Regarding giving a job to his wife, he said, ‘My wife applied to Nagad based on her own merit and qualifications. Nagad authorities have given him a temporary job there subject to conditions, following the criteria of his previous experience, merit and qualification.’

In the post, Atiq Morshed said, ‘I am Atiq Morshed, currently working as a personal officer to the Honorable Chief Advisor, Fayez Tayeb Ahmed, at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

BNP leader Ishraq gives final message to government

BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has given a final message to the government, saying that if the government does not swear in the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, he will take the oath himself along with the people of Dhaka and sit in the mayor's chair. He said, "No external administrator or advisor will be allowed to enter the city hall. If necessary, an administrator will be appointed in each ward. This is the last word."

Ishraq made these remarks while addressing the supporters who took part in the movement by setting up a stage under the main gate of the city hall at 3 pm on Tuesday (June 3).

Appeal verdict on Jamaat's registration, Jamaat-e-Islami finally gets its registration back

The verdict on the appeal against the High Court's verdict declaring the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami illegal is scheduled for Sunday.

On Sunday (June 1), the four-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed included the case in the daily agenda for today's verdict.

Earlier, on May 14, after hearing Jamaat's appeal for the fourth day, the Appellate Division set June 1 as the date for the verdict.

During the hearing that day, Jamaat's lawyers described the cancellation of the registration as the result of political use of the judiciary. In addition, the application for the return of their symbol, the scales, was withdrawn during the hearing. However, Jamaat's lawyers want an observation from the court that the Election Commission (EC) should approach the full court to return the party symbol, the scales.

It is learned that Jamaat has been using the scales as its party symbol since 1986. On November 4, 2008, the Election Commission granted temporary registration to Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party.

After the final hearing of the writ petition, a larger bench of the High Court ruled on August 1, 2013, that the registration given to Jamaat was illegal based on the majority opinion. At that time, in a short judgment, the court declared the registration of Jamaat to be beyond legal authority. At the same time, the court also allowed Jamaat-e-Islami to appeal directly. After the High Court's verdict in 2013, the party did not have the opportunity to participate in the 10th parliamentary election.
