Industry Insight: According to a 2024 cybersecurity study, approximately 68% of security breaches in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) stemmed from preventable system misconfigurations. In many instances, these vulnerabilities went unnoticed until they led to reduced investor confidence or triggered compliance concerns during due diligence or funding rounds.

In today’s fast-moving business landscape, it’s easy to overlook foundational security practices. However, identifying and addressing these gaps early can significantly enhance an organization’s preparedness for sustainable growth, investor engagement, and long-term digital resilience.

For those reflecting on operational resilience or navigating similar challenges, these topics often lead to valuable conversations. I’m always open to thoughtful exchanges around strategies that support sustainable growth and digital trust.

Tech Project Failures in Bangladesh: The Hidden Risk of Misunderstanding Requirements.

In Bangladesh—and globally—many software projects fail due to unclear or misunderstood requirements from Product Owners. Global stats at a glance: Only 29% of IT projects succeed. Over 50% are challenged and 19% outright fail. 70% of digital transformation ventures falter—and nearly 49% of these are directly due to poor requirement gathering. A detailed analysis shows 43–57% of failures stem from incomplete, vague, or changing requirements.
Why this matters in Bangladesh: Recall the Doel laptop initiative launched in 2011: by 2024, it was stalled, plagued by technical errors, funding issues and misaligned expectations—clear signs of inadequate requirement capture and stakeholder alignment.

Problem breakdown—Product Owners often.
1. Don’t clearly define user needs or acceptance criteria.
2. Frequently pivot priorities mid-project without solid change control.
3. Fail to stay engaged throughout development, causing misalignment.

Strengthen Requirement Management:
1. Educate Product Owners & stakeholders in requirement-gathering techniques and clear acceptance criteria.
2. Implement structured processes: Use workshops, user stories and prototypes.
3. Maintain change request processes for midstream adjustments.
Foster continuous collaboration:
4. Schedule regular reviews with your Product Owner. Involve end-users early and often, throughout development phases.

Why this matters? - Putting in this level of clarity upfront could prevent nearly half of all software failures. In the context of Bangladesh’s national tech ambitions—from Doel to digital governance—this step is crucial.

Real Question from a Client This Week: “How do I know my freelancer isn’t misusing my CRM data?”

A concern like this points to access control, data governance and cybersecurity hygiene—issues that are increasingly relevant in today’s distributed work environments.

With over 130 national and international tech projects delivered in the past 8 years, I’ve seen how easily trust gaps form when processes aren’t secure, auditable or clearly defined.

Would it be helpful if I put together a quick post on common red flags to watch for when working with freelancers and vendors?

Let me know — could turn this into a useful thread for business owners, startups and investment teams managing outsourced tech projects.

Have you ever tried creating a project proposal for your business?

Many high-potential initiatives fail to attract investment or donor support—not due to a lack of merit, but because the proposals lack structure, clarity or alignment with stakeholder expectations.

Over the past 8 years, I’ve been involved in 130+ national and international projects and I’ve consistently seen how even experienced teams lose out on opportunities simply because their documentation doesn’t meet the required standard.

In the last year alone, I’ve assisted 15+ organizations in enhancing their proposals for government tenders, donor programs, and private sector funding.

If you're in the process of preparing a proposal—or just want to see a proven structure that works—I’d be happy to share a sample template that’s helped others succeed.

Feel free to reach out if this could add value to your process.

Friday Insight for Founders & Investors.

Tech scalability isn't just a question of tools—it's a question of timing, talent and technical alignment.

In reviewing 130+ national and international projects, one pattern holds true: Startups and scaleups that integrate tech strategy early scale faster—and more sustainably.

Ask yourself:
1. If your user base doubled tomorrow, would your system handle it?
2. Are your tech operations aligned with your business model or working against it?

In today’s investment landscape, robust technical infrastructure is as valuable as capital.

Drop a check if you’ve been thinking about scalability, system readiness or technical project alignment.

ISO 27001 - Not just for corporates anymore.
Across 130+ national and international projects, a recurring theme I’ve seen is the misconception that ISO 27001 is only relevant for large enterprises. In reality, startups and growing ventures can unlock significant investor trust and operational maturity by preparing early for ISO 27001 compliance.

Implementing ISO 27001 doesn't just secure your systems—it signals strategic foresight, something many VCs and institutional investors quietly look for. I've compiled a concise checklist based on real-world implementation strategies that work without draining lean startup resources.

If anyone here is exploring compliance readiness or wants to understand how early-stage orgs can adopt ISO standards efficiently, happy to share insights.

Real-World Challenges in Investment, Projects and Technology — And Practical Solutions.

In today’s fast-evolving landscape, I continue to observe recurring challenges across investment ventures, project ex*****on and technology integration. These issues often delay growth, dilute value or expose ventures to avoidable risks.

Here are a few patterns that stand out from recent experiences:
Investment Domain
Problem: Incomplete due diligence leading to overvalued acquisitions or underperforming portfolios.
Solution: Integrated evaluation frameworks that assess not just financials but operational scalability and digital risk.

Project Management
Problem: Project delays due to poor stakeholder alignment or unclear delivery milestones.
Solution: Agile-driven frameworks combined with robust communication protocols that keep delivery on track and stakeholders engaged.

Technology & Cybersecurity
Problem: Rapid tech adoption without a cybersecurity roadmap — often resulting in compliance issues or data exposure.
Solution: Embedding security-by-design into digital transformation journeys, rather than treating it as an afterthought.

Each scenario reinforces the value of strategic foresight, technical alignment and resilience planning in navigating complex environments.

The good news? These problems are solvable with the right frameworks, leadership mindset and ex*****on clarity.

From Confusion to Clarity: A Common Mistake Startups Make (and How to Fix It)

A few months ago, I was consulting with a promising tech startup in Dhaka. The founders were smart, driven and had a fantastic product idea — but something critical was holding them back.

They were preparing for launch and confidently told me: "We’ve done our research. We’ve defined our personnel profiles."

But what they really meant was personas — fictional profiles of potential users.

Here’s the issue: They were mixing up "persona" and "personnel" — two very different concepts that play completely different roles in a business strategy.

📌 Quick Breakdown:
(A). Persona = A fictional character representing your ideal customer

🔹 Helps in marketing, UX design, and product development. Example: “Tech-Savvy Tim,” a 30-year-old developer who values speed in mobile apps

(B). Personnel = The real people who work in your company
🔹 Used in HR, staffing, and operations. Example: “We need more personnel for the customer support team.”

✅ Once we clarified this, the startup adjusted their strategy — developed detailed user personas, segmented their market, aligned their UX flow — and within weeks, their product engagement rate improved significantly.

🎯 Why does this matter for Bangladeshi startups? - Because clarity in terminology reflects clarity in thinking. Whether you're building your MVP or scaling your team, understanding these basics can save time, money and a lot of misdirection.

Honored to participate in the Bangladesh Light Engineering Expo 2025.

I am truly honored to have participated in the Bangladesh Light Engineering Expo 2025, a platform that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to shape the future of the engineering sector in our country.

I was privileged to receive a certificate of participation from "Sheikh Mohammad Abdur Rahman", Joint Secretary and Deputy Project Director, EC4J Project, Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh.

It was also a great pleasure to share the stage with "Md. Abdur Razzaque", President of the Bangladesh Engineering Industry Owner's Association (BEIOA), whose insights and leadership continue to inspire the advancement of our local industry.

Grateful for the opportunity to engage, learn and contribute to such a meaningful initiative. Looking forward to many more milestones in Bangladesh’s journey toward industrial excellence.
