Chief of Army Staff Returns After Official Visit to Qatar

Dhaka, 05 May 2025 (Monday): Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army, General Waker-Uz-Zaman has returned home today upon completion of his official visit to Qatar.

During the visit, CAS held courtesy meetings and discussions with high-ranking civil and military officials including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, the Minister of State for Interior Affairs, the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, and the Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces (Lekhwiya).

On 03 May 2025, the Army Chief paid a courtesy call on H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest including cooperation between the Olympic Committees of both countries, support for sports-related training, development of bilateral relations, and the prospect of establishing an Olympic Village in Bangladesh.

On the following day, 04 May 2025, the Army Chief held separate meetings with H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and H.E. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs.

Discussions focused on enhancing defence cooperation, development of the defence industry, and avenues for the exchange of skilled manpower.

On the same day, the Army Chief met with Lieutenant General Jassim bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces.

The discussion highlighted the strengthening of bilateral military relations, training support, joint training initiatives, the exchange of trainees between military institutions, and employment opportunities in Qatar for retired members of the Bangladesh Army.

Mentionable is that the Army Chief departed for Qatar on 03 May 2025 for the official visit.

Chief of Bangladesh Army Pays Tribute to the Memory of Russian Soldiers

Dhaka, 08 April 2025 (Tuesday): General Waker-Uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, psc, Chief of Army Staff of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, who is currently visiting Russia along with a military delegation, paid deep tribute to the memory of Russian fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the Alexander Garden in Moscow today, 08 April 2025 (Tuesday).

The ceremony was led by the General of the Army Oleg Salyukov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces. As per tradition, a minute of silence was observed to the sound of a metronome.

Following this, the national anthem of Bangladesh was played by the military orchestra as a symbolic gesture of respect for the fallen heroes.

The ceremony concluded with an honor guard and ceremonial march by the Russian Army’s 154th Preobrazhensky Independent Commandant's Regiment.
