Love in the Rain
Ethan always loved the rain. He found peace in the way raindrops tapped against his window, how they washed away the noise of the world. But he never thought rain would bring him love.
One evening, as he walked home from his favorite bookstore, the sky darkened, and a sudden downpour drenched the city. He pulled out his umbrella and hurried along the quiet street when he noticed her—soaked, shivering, and struggling to shield herself with a flimsy notebook.
Without thinking, he stepped closer and held his umbrella over her. She looked up, startled, her deep brown eyes meeting his. A small, grateful smile formed on her lips.
“Thank you,” she said, brushing a wet strand of hair from her face.
“Looks like the rain caught us both by surprise,” Ethan chuckled.
“I’m Claire,” she offered. “I was sketching by the river when the storm came out of nowhere.”
He noticed the damp notebook in her hands. “You draw?”
She nodded. “Mostly places I visit. But today, I was drawing something different—memories.”
Curious, Ethan asked to see, and she hesitated before flipping open a page. There, in soft pencil strokes, was a couple sitting under an umbrella, sharing laughter in the rain.
He smiled. “Looks like you predicted our meeting.”
Claire laughed, the sound warm despite the cold rain. “Maybe fate just has a funny way of working.”
They walked together, sharing stories under the umbrella, the rain weaving a melody around them. And as they reached Claire’s apartment, neither wanted to say goodbye.
“Would you like to grab coffee sometime?” Ethan asked, hope in his voice.
She tilted her head playfully. “Only if it’s raining.”
From that day on, every rainy evening became theirs. A story written not in ink, but in moments—laughter over steaming coffee, quiet walks beneath shared umbrellas, and kisses stolen beneath the downpour.
And just like that, love became their favorite kind of weather.
