Bangla-Chinese Supremacy

I had actually visited Midnight Sun around 2010ish when Midnight Sun-1 used to be on Mirpur Road around Sobhanbagh or Dhanmondi 27. I distinctly remember not liking it which is why I discouraged my friend from visiting but he insisted and I was right as usual.
Located next to Bolaka Cinema Hall, the restaurant has a very old school interior but it’s quite poorly kept. That same friend had to change seats thrice because of a terrible smell around the tables near the curtains which we suspect were not washed for a while now. Most crockeries were also chipped or damaged.
The food quality was noticeably below the other Bangla-Chinese restaurants I’ve covered. And ironically, the friend who insisted on visiting there ended up with a stomach ache afterwards. Divine justice!
Thick Thai Soup- Presentation was impressive with fire in the hot pot and this was one of the better items of the meal. Still it wasn’t up to the mark compared to other places. Way too much lemongrass and chillies, quality of chicken was noticeably poor.

Finger Prawn- Sounded interesting but turned out to be a wrong decision. Whole prawn was wrapped in a spring-roll-like wrapper but the wrapper was doughy, chewy and tough. Prawn filling was fine but the overall dish was disappointing.

Fried Chicken- We ordered it after seeing a neighbouring table’s fried chicken which looked good. Ours however seemed like a completely different item. It was heavily over-fried, hard to eat and the spices underneath the batter hadn’t properly infused into the chicken.

Hot Sauce Prawn- The prawn curry was overall pretty good with no major complaints. Good quantity and flavour, properly cooked. I enjoyed this.

Mixed Fried Rice- This tasted much more like bhat bhaja than fried rice and they even added tomatoes, blasphemy! Definitely not recommended!
