🐦 Crows can remember people they consider threats for years

Research suggests that crows have an impressive ability to recognise and remember individuals they associate with danger — and may continue reacting aggressively toward them for up to 17 years.

In a University of Washington experiment, researchers captured seven crows while wearing a distinctive mask. When the birds were later shown the same mask, they responded with aggressive calls, indicating they remembered the person associated with the threatening experience.

Even more remarkably, studies suggest crows can learn about potential threats from other members of their group, including their parents. This allows knowledge about perceived enemies to spread through crow communities and potentially persist across generations.

In the footage, the man can be seen bending his body in unusual ways and making strange gestures, with some users comparing his movements to a fictional “zombie”character.

The video has also sparked speculation that his behaviour could be related to drug use, with some social media users suggesting xylazine, sometimes referred to online as the “zombie drug,” may be involved.

However, there is no confirmed medical or legal evidence that the man had consumed xylazine or any other specific substance. The cause of his behaviour remains unclear.

প্রতিমন্ত্রী মীর শাহে আলম ঘোষণা করেছেন যে, বাংলাদেশ চীনের অর্থায়নে নির্মিত একটি বর্জ্য থেকে বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন কেন্দ্র থেকে প্রতি ইউনিট ২৫ টাকা দরে ​​বিদ্যুৎ ক্রয় করবে। ঢাকার আমিনবাজারের আবর্জনাভূমি থেকে এই বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন করে আগামী ১৮ মাসের মধ্যে জাতীয় গ্রিডে সরবরাহ করা হবে। প্রকল্পটির অর্থায়ন সংক্রান্ত একটি চূড়ান্ত চুক্তি আগামী ২ সেপ্টেম্বর বেইজিংয়ে বাংলাদেশ, বিনিয়োগকারী ব্যাংক এবং চীনা কোম্পানিটির মধ্যে স্বাক্ষরিত হওয়ার কথা রয়েছে।

জ্বালানি ও এলএনজির উচ্চমূল্যের কারণে উৎপাদন ও পরিবহন খরচ বাড়বে এবং খাদ্য ও অন্যান্য নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় পণ্যের দাম বৃদ্ধি পাবে বলে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে, যার সবচেয়ে বড় বোঝা দরিদ্র পরিবারগুলোর ওপর পড়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। বাংলাদেশ আমদানিকৃত জ্বালানি, বিশেষ করে এলএনজির ওপর ব্যাপকভাবে নির্ভরশীল, অন্যদিকে অভ্যন্তরীণ গ্যাস উৎপাদন ২০১৬ সালের সর্বোচ্চ পর্যায় থেকে হ্রাস পেয়েছে। এই সংঘাত সার সরবরাহেও বিঘ্ন ঘটিয়েছে। জানা গেছে, গ্যাসের ঘাটতির কারণে দেশের ছয়টি ইউরিয়া সার কারখানার মধ্যে পাঁচটি উৎপাদন বন্ধ করতে বাধ্য হয়েছে। বিশ্বব্যাংক সতর্ক করেছে যে, এই সংকট অব্যাহত থাকলে সারের দাম দ্বিগুণ হয়ে যেতে পারে, যা ক্ষুদ্র কৃষক এবং খাদ্য নিরাপত্তাকে ঝুঁকির মধ্যে ফেলবে। এই চাপ স্বাস্থ্যসেবা এবং শিল্পখাতেও ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে, কারণ হাসপাতাল, ওষুধ প্রস্তুতকারক এবং কারখানাগুলো উচ্চ জ্বালানি ও আমদানি ব্যয়ের সম্মুখীন হচ্ছে। সিপিডি ডিস্টিংগুইশড ফেলো মুস্তাফিজুর রহমান বলেছেন, সংকটের লক্ষণ ইতোমধ্যেই দৃশ্যমান। জ্বালানি ঘাটতির কারণে কিছু কারখানা কাজের সময় কমিয়ে দিচ্ছে, বন্ধ করে দিচ্ছে বা কর্মী ছাঁটাই করছে।
