FactWatch, the flagship fact-checking initiative of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), has successfully conducted a Community Discussion and Grassroots Fact-Checking Training at Infinity Girls School, Taraboni, Cox’s Bazar.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Cox’s Bazar Federation of Social Work, and brought together over 40 participants, including teachers, students, community leaders, journalists, and social workers.

This event marks another milestone in the ongoing national campaign titled “Resilient Voices: Tackling Misinformation and Disinformation, Fostering Digital Literacy, and Fact-Checking in Bangladesh,” supported by The Asia Foundation.

The initiative aims to strengthen community resilience by equipping rural and underprivileged populations with the tools to identify and challenge digital misinformation.

Fact-Watch is proud to announce the upcoming Community Discussion and Grassroots Fact-Checking Training in Taraboni, Cox’s Bazar, with over 40 local participants expected to join this vital conversation. 🌍

Organised in partnership with Cox's Bazar Federation of Social Work, this initiative marks a continuation of Fact-Watch’s commitment to reaching the heart of rural and underprivileged communities—bringing knowledge, awareness, and digital literacy directly to those who need it most. 🌱

As part of our national mission, “Resilient Voices: Tackling Misinformation and Disinformation, Fostering Digital Literacy, and Fact-Checking in Bangladesh”, this session will:

✔️ Empower teachers, students, journalists, social workers, and local leaders
✔️ Discuss local misinformation trends and digital challenges

He appreciated the initiative that will lead to developing a community guide—a pioneering step by Shimpur High School and the Shimpur community to help people identify facts, misinformation, and disinformation on social media.

Shimpur High School and FactWatch Host First-Ever Community Fact-Checking Training in Cumilla

In a pioneering move toward fighting misinformation at the grassroots, Shimpur High School - শিমপুর উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়, in association with FactWatch, organized the *first community discussion and fact-checking training session in Shimpur village, Cumilla Adarsha Sadar Upazila.

The event brought together a diverse group of community leaders, teachers, students, social workers, and professionals to discuss the rising threat of misinformation and the importance of critical thinking and digital literacy.

Facilitated by the Connecting Communities: Empowering Bangladesh Against Misinformation and FactWatch team, the session introduced basic fact-checking tools and encouraged open dialogue on how misinformation affects community dynamics, public trust, and decision-making.

This active participation underscored the community's readiness to take ownership of the fight against misinformation.
